Self-Study Program

9
Every component of the raw body shell has
been dimensioned perfectly in terms of its
cross-section and weight to meet the strain
that will be placed on the material.
The result are the lightest bodies in this
vehicle’s class, with optimised values for
torsional strength, flexural strength and
buckling strength.
Rigidity of an ASF
®
body
The higher rigidity of an aluminium body
compared to a steel body is due exclusively to
the larger cross-sections and corresponding
sectional designs.
This forms the basis for a statically and
dynamically rigid aluminium body.
New production methods for producing cast
aluminium, extruded profiles and rolled sheet
metal are used for the A2.
