award 5 times. The Audi valvelift variable valve control
system markedly improves engine efficiency and at the same
time increases its torque. In combination with the high
torque available from the electric motor, dynamic acceleration
is possible.
Hybrid power electronics: independently control the flow
of energy between high-voltage battery and electric motor
and ensure the vehicle power supply. The use of the latest
technologies provides for high functionality packed in a
compact design.
Electric motor: combines efficiency and dynamism, and acts
as either traction engine, generator or starter depending
on the driving situation and performance requirement. The
compact and particularly lightweight electric motor is
connected to the crankshaft through a clutch. This parallel
hybrid concept ensures that the available power is transmitted
directly. The result: convincing drive-off performance and
acceleration in just about every driving situation
e-automatic air conditioning: is operated by an electric
air-conditioning compressor, independently of the engine.
This means climate control is always available – even in pure
electric mode and with the engine switched off when the
vehicle is at a standstill.

thus emission-free – for a certain period.
This is made possible by the high-performance
lithium-ion battery. The weight-improved
construction of all the hybrid components
enables you to drive efficiently.
You will experience the fascinating scope of
hybrid technology in the Audi A8 hybrid and A8 L
hybrid by choosing one of three driving programs.
In EV mode, for example, you can drive in pure
electric mode to a greater extent, at speeds of
up to 100 km/h and almost noiselessly – an
absolutely new driving experience! At a constant
speed of 60 km/h this is possible up to a range of
3 km. You’ll also be delighted with the interaction
between the combustion engine and the electric
motor. It can not only achieve a significant
reduction in consumption and emissions, it
results in improved performance as well. As far
as the Audi A8 hybrid and A8 L hybrid are
concerned, performance is efficient power.
