Assistance systems
adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go function including Audi pre sense front
automatic distance control (control range 0–250 km/h); working within system limits, it uses 2 radar sensors and a
camera to detect vehicles ahead and maintains the distance by automatic braking and acceleration; independent
braking to a stop, automated restart at driver’s request; 4 distance levels and 4 driving modes (efficiency, comfort,
dynamic and standard) can be selected individually. The use of services supported by Audi connect is possible in
conjunction with MMI navigation plus: due to route data stored in the navigation system such as the sweep of
bends and corners or road classifications a more comfortable distance control is possible, for example if you drive
again on the same winding roads. In addition to the functions of Audi pre sense basic, Audi pre sense front
implements preventive occupant protection measures when threatened with an imminent frontal collision. Working
within system limits, Audi pre sense front utilises the front sensors of the adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go
function to carry out its detection tasks; includes Audi braking guard with driver warning through an extended
brake assist feature and preventive occupant protection. If there is a danger of collision with a stationary or
moving vehicle at speeds below 30 km/h, a maximum deceleration is initiated in order to reduce the severity of
the collision or to avoid this collision if possible.
Audi lane assist
lane compliance assistant; working within system limits, it signals if the driver is unintentionally leaving the
traffic lane (operating range 60–250 km/h). If the system is activated and operational and if the driver has not
switched on the indicator, the driver will be notified via steering wheel vibrations shortly before or while crossing
the traffic lane marker recognised by Audi lane assist.
Audi pre sense basic
Networking the different vehicle systems enables driving situations to be categorised and, where necessary,
actions to be implemented for preventive occupant protection. Such actions include seat belt tensioning,
activation of the hazard warning lights and closing of sunroof and windows.
Audi side assist including Audi pre sense rear
lane change assistant; working within system limits,
it assists the driver when changing lanes (operating
range 30–250 km/h). Displays are integrated into both
exterior mirrors. Audi side assist uses 2 radar sensors
to measure the vehicle’s distance from other vehicles
it has detected as well as the speed difference
between them. If Audi side assist classifies the speed
difference and distance as being critical in the event of
a lane change, a display will appear in the respective
exterior mirror. In addition to the functions of Audi pre
sense basic, Audi pre sense rear working within the
system limits, uses the rear sensors of Audi side assist
to detect a possible rear-end collision. If the vehicle is
fitted with a seat memory function, in the event of a
possible rear-end collision the upper backrest and the
head restraint are moved to a position more favourable
for the passengers. The pneumatic side bolsters on the
comfort seats and comfort sport seats are additionally
filled.
Assistance package including Audi pre sense plus
The assistance package contains the functions of the
following assistance systems:
▪ adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go function
▪ Audi side assist
▪ parking system plus
▪ Audi pre sense front
▪ Audi pre sense rear
The functions of Audi pre sense basic, Audi pre sense
front and Audi pre sense rear are extended, by the
addition of fully developed deceleration, to form Audi
pre sense plus: in addition to the functions of Audi
pre sense front, Audi pre sense plus activates the Audi
braking guard in certain situations when a collision is
unavoidable and initiates a full braking action to
reduce the severity of the crash by a reduction of the
speed of up to 40 km/h.
