Hybrid

The Audi A8 hybrid brings all the comfort, luxury and quality

of the Audi A8, combined with the benefits of a full hybrid

vehicle. Audi hybrid models offer two things at once –

impressive performance and low emissions. You can benefit

from different driving styles and modes depending on your

needs, ranging from all-electric and virtually emission-free

driving, to conventional driving boosted by the electric motor

to enhance performance.

Electric motor

Combines efficiency and dynamism – acting as either a traction

engine, generator or starter depending on the driving situation

and performance requirement. It has an output rating of

40 kW and a maximum torque of 210 Nm. The compact and

particularly lightweight electric motor is connected to the

crankshaft through a clutch – this parallel hybrid concept

ensures that available power is transmitted directly. The result:

convincing drive-off performance and acceleration in just about

every driving situation.

2.0 TFSI engine

Has received the “Engine of the Year”* award 5 times. The Audi

valve-lift variable valve control system markedly improves

engine efficiency and increases torque at the same time. The

combination of this and the high torque available from the

electric motor makes for impressive, dynamic acceleration.

Hybrid power electronics

Independently control the flow of energy between the high-

voltage battery and the electric motor; supplying power to the

vehicle’s on-board systems. The use of the latest technologies

allows for high functionality within a compact design.
