Audi side assist including Audi pre sense rear*: Displays are
integrated into the exterior mirrors. Operational from a vehicle
speed of 30km/h, Audi side assist uses 2 radar sensors (with
a range of approx. 70 m) to measure the vehicle’s distance from
other detected vehicles, as well as the speed difference between
them. If Audi side assist classifies the speed difference and distance
as being critical in the event of a lane change manoeuvre, a display
will appear in the respective exterior mirror (information stage).
This display will only be noticed by looking at the exterior mirrors.
When the indicator is activated and Audi side assist detects a vehicle
approaching and rates the situation as critical, the relevant display
on the exterior mirror flashes repeatedly (warning stage). The
brightness of the display can be set to 1 of 5 levels in the MMI®.
Please note: The systems can only work within system limits. They can be of assistance,
but drivers are still required to be attentive at all times.
