Parking system plus
acoustic and visual parking system for the front and
rear with MMI display; measurement is by ultrasonic
sensors integrated discreetly in the bumpers; can also
be ordered with optional reversing camera or front and
reversing camera
Park assist with display of surroundings
searches for suitable parking space along the road
by means of ultrasonic sensors, calculates the ideal
parking path for cross parking spaces and for kerb-side
parking spaces the ideal path for parking and leaving
and performs the steering action almost automatically.
Parking is now even possible in smaller parking
spaces and curve areas; parking in several moves is
supported. Steering is done by the vehicle, while the
driver only needs to accelerate and apply the brakes.
The display of surroundings warns of obstacles at the
side depending on the steering angle and supports
safe and scratch-free parking and leaving a parking
space by providing the correct steering angle; can
optionally additionally be ordered with reversing
camera or front and reversing camera
Assistance systems
Night vision assistant
with highlighting of detected pedestrians
with integrated thermal imaging camera; when driving
at night, this system extends the driver’s range of
visibility beyond the light provided by the dipped
beam; records thermal images; an image processing
algorithm then evaluates the camera’s data and
highlights any persons it has detected in yellow in the
optional driver information system’s colour display;
the highlighting changes to red and a warning tone
is emitted if the system, by analysing the movement
and position of the person it has detected, considers
that there is a possible risk. In addition, the person
is illuminated with a headlight 3 x in quick succession
(marking light). Additional warning symbol in the
head-up display (can be ordered as an option). Image
quality is affected in poor ambient conditions
Cruise control
maintains any speed above around 30km/h, provided
that the engine power output and engine braking effect
permit it; operated via separate steering column stalk
Hold assist
holds the vehicle stationary for unlimited periods after
stopping, on almost all uphill and downhill gradients.
The system is activated by push-button and allows the
driver to drive away easily and comfortably without
having to operate the electromechanical parking brake.
Audi side assist including Audi pre sense rear
lane change assistant, within system limits, assists
the driver when changing lanes (operating range
30–250km/h). Displays are incorporated into both
exterior mirrors. Audi side assist uses 2 radar sensors
to measure the vehicle’s distance from other vehicles
it has detected as well as the speed difference between
them. If Audi side assist classifies the speed difference
and distance as being critical in the event of a lane
change, a display will appear in the respective exterior
mirror. In addition to the functions of Audi pre sense
basic, Audi pre sense rear, working within system
limits, uses the rear sensors of Audi side assist to
detect a possible rear-end collision.
Audi pre sense plus is included if Audi adaptive cruise
control with Stop&Go function is also ordered. In
addition to the functions of Audi pre sense front,
Audi pre sense plus activates the Audi braking guard
in certain situations in which a collision is unavoidable
and initiates maximum deceleration to minimise the
impact speed of the crash by up to 40km/h.
