with colour display and integral SIM card reader, for
making private phone calls; easy writing of text mes-
sages thanks to automatic word recognition.
Mobile telephone fitting (Bluetooth)
includes a hands-free facility (including voice control
for the telephone functions) and a fitting for an op-
tional mobile-specific charger (available from Audi
Genuine Accessories) with a connection to the external
aerial (via the base plate including adapter); operation
via the MMI, the multifunction leather steering wheel
or the speech dialogue system; situated in the centre

Audi pre sense basic
networking the different vehicle systems enables driv-
ing situations to be categorised and, where necessary,
actions to be implemented for preventive occupant
protection. These include: belt tightening, activating
the hazard warning system and closing the windows
and – if fitted – sliding roof
adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go function
including Audi pre sense front
automatic distance control (control range 0-250 km/h);
working within system limits, it uses two radar sensors
and a camera to detect vehicles ahead and maintains
the distance by automatic braking and accelerating;
independent braking to a stop, automated restart at
driver’s request; 4 distance levels and 3 driving modes
(comfort, dynamic and standard) can be selected
individually. In addition to the functions of
Audi pre
sense basic, Audi pre sense front activates protective
measures to prevent an imminent head-on collision.
Working within system limits, Audi pre sense front
uses the front sensors of adaptive cruise control with
Stop&Go function for the detection; including Audi
braking guard with warning for driver from an en-
hanced brake assist and preventative occupant pro-
tection in case of an imminent collision with a vehicle
travelling in front provided by observation of sur-
roundings. Audi pre sense plus is included if Audi side
assist is also ordered. In addition to the functions
of Audi pre sense front, Audi pre sense plus activates
the Audi braking guard in certain situations when a
collision is unavoidable and initiates a full braking
action to minimise the severity of the crash as much
as possible
Audi side assist including Audi pre sense rear
lane change assistant, within system limits, assists the
driver when changing lanes (operating range 30–250
km/h). Displays are incorporated into both exterior
mirrors. Audi side assist uses 2 radar sensors to
measure the vehicle’s distance from other vehicles it
has detected as well as the speed difference between
them. If Audi side assist classifies the speed difference
and distance as being critical in the event of a lane
change, a display will appear in the respective exterior
mirror. In addition to the functions of Audi pre sense
basic, Audi pre sense rear, working within system lim-
its, uses the rear sensors of Audi side assist to detect a
possible rear-end collision. Audi pre sense plus is in-
cluded if Audi adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go
functioning is also ordered. In addition to the func-
tions of Audi pre sense front, Audi pre sense plus acti-
vates the Audi braking guard in certain situations when
a collision is unavoidable and initiates a full braking ac-
tion to minimise the severity of the crash as much as
possible
Audi active lane assist

lane compliance assistant; working within system
limits, it informs the driver if he is unintentionally
leaving the traffic lane (operating range 60 – 250
km/h). If the system is activated and ready and the
driver has not operated the indicators, the driver will
be notified by a gentle, corrective steering interven-
tion (choice of earlier or later steering time) shortly
before crossing the traffic lane marker recognised by
Audi lane assist; additional steering vibration can be
adjusted if the driver wishes; also shown in head-up
display (can be ordered as an option)
Head-up display
projects as required information relevant to the driver
from the assistance systems, navigation or warning
symbols onto the windscreen in the driver’s direct field
of vision; height adjustable; provides a multicoloured
display with good contrast and minimal distraction
from the road
Night vision assistant with marking of detected
pedestrians
with integral thermal imaging camera; when driving at
night, this system extends the driver’s range of visibili-
ty beyond the light provided by the dipped beam;
records thermal images; an image processing algo-
rithm then evaluates the camera’s data and marks any
persons it has detected in yellow in the optional driver
information system’s colour display; the marking
changes to red and a warning tone is emitted if the
system, by analysing the movement and position of
the person it has detected, considers that there is a
possible risk. Additional warning symbol in the head-
up display (can be ordered as an option). Image quality
is affected in poor ambient conditions

media and MP3 players. The Audi music interface is
housed in the centre console; it is operated via the
MMI or the multifunction leather steering wheel.

adapter cable (Audi Genuine Accessories). Please con-

MP3 players.

DVD/CD changer
in glove compartment, for 6 DVDs or CDs, supports
e.g. audio CDs, video DVDs and MP3, WMA, AAC,
MPEG4; supports up to 4,000 tracks per medium;
shock-resistant ; DVDs and CDs can be changed indi-
vidually; fast forward and rewind, random playback
possible. Music files with digital rights management
(DRM) cannot be played.
Bluetooth interface

mobile phones can be connected to the vehicle via the

Bluetooth car phone online
your Bluetooth-capable mobile phone can be conven-
iently connected to the vehicle’s internal UMTS mod-
ule (provided the mobile telephone has an SIM Access
Profile); additional SIM card reader located in the sur-
round of the MMI navigation plus with MMI touch.
Transfer of phone book entries to the vehicle and man-
agement of call lists. Additionally with online services
such as point of interest search, navigation with help
of Google Earth images, destination entry, informa-
tion services e.g. weather and WiFi hotspot for Inter-
net access using a mobile end device (e.g. laptop). Due
to the high data volumes (currently effects in particu-
lar navigation with the help of Google Earth images
and WiFi hotspot) a mobile phone contract including a
data flat rate is strongly recommended! The content
and scope of the online-based services offered may
vary. Online services are only available for mobile
phone contracts including a data option and only with-
in the coverage of the mobile phone network; there
will be additional costs for the use of these services
(charges and billing correspond to the personal mobile
phone contract); they are only offered in Europe (Rus-
sia: in the Moscow and St. Petersburg areas only; not
offered in Turkey, Cyprus, Malta and Iceland); simple
operation via the MMI navigation plus with MMI touch,
a multifunction leather steering wheel or the voice
control system.
