Night vision assistant/head-up display
Day and night.
What is the difference?
The human eye is one of the
most sensitive senso-
ry organs. However, sometimes it may still
miss
something. For example, when it is dark or
you
have been dazzled. We always do our best to help
you in these situations. The optional night vision
assistant with highlighting of detected pedestrians
records the area in
front of the vehicle using a
thermal imaging camera and marks any identified
pedestrian located between 15 and 90 metres
away with yellowing highlighting in the image.
Should the system detect an imminent collision
between the vehicle and an identified pedestrian,
then the colour of the marking
will change to red
and a warning tone
will sound. The night vision
assistant can be switched on or off via a
button
on the rotary light switch. Pedestrian
marking,
warning signals and picture contrast are
con-
figured in the CAR menu. The optional head-up
display
forms a useful complement to the night
vision assistant. At any time it quickly projects a
clear, full-colour virtual
image beyond the wind-
screen. The image
content is portrayed directly
within the driver's field of vision minimizing any
driver distraction. The head-up display
therefore
contributes to
greater traffic safety. The image
content is configured via the CAR menu. As well
as displaying current driving speed and naviga-
tion data, information from
the driver assistance
system
and speed limit data can also be
shown.
When the
night vision assistant with highlight-
ing of detected pedestrians is activated and a
potential danger is detected,
a warning symbol
appears in the
head-up display. The head-up
display can be adjusted to your seating position
to optimise viewing.
