Sending SMS
(text messages)
Your phone is delivered ready to send SMS
messages immediately.
Prerequisites:
u Calling Line Identification is enabled for
your phone line.
u Your network provider supports SMS on
the fixed line network (information on
this can be obtained from your network
provider).
u The number of the SMS centre is entered.
Register with the Swisscom ISDN network
by sending an SMS.
u An incoming SMS is signalled by one alert
tone.
Please note:
If you wish to receive SMS messages via sev-
eral MSNs, you must register each MSN sep-
arately with your service provider.

~ / s Select number with dialling
code (even if you are in that
area) from the directory or enter
directly. For sending SMS mes-
sages to an SMS mailbox: Add
the mailbox ID to the end of the
number.
§Send§ Press the display key. The SMS is
sent.
Please note
When supplied, the access number
(062 210 00 0*) for the Swisscom
SMS centre is pre-programmed.

u For instructions on entering text and
special characters, please see
page 105, .
u An SMS may contain up to 612 charac-
ters. If there are more than 160 char-
acters, the SMS is sent as a linked SMS
(up to 4 SMS messages with 153 char-
acters each). The top right of the dis-
play shows how many characters are
still available and which part of a
linked SMS is currently being written.
Please note
u If you are interrupted by an external
call while writing an SMS, the text is
automatically saved in the draft list.
u If the memory is full, or if the SMS
function is being used by a handset,
the operation is cancelled. An appro-
priate message appears in the display.
Delete SMS messages you no longer
require or send the SMS later.
