Installation Instructions
Pro-Cut® Starter Strips can be installed starting at either end of
the eave. Begin installing the starter strips from the same end you intend to start the first course of
field shingles.
If using the Pro-Cut 6x, 8.5x, or 10x Starter Strip, trim 4" to 6" from either end of the first
starter strip to provide an offset from the ends of the first shingle course. Position the cut
starter strip along the bottom of the eave at the rake edge making sure the self seal adhesive
line is facing up and nearest to the lower edge of the eave. Position the fasteners so they will
not show through any cutouts of the first shingle.
Apply Pro-Cut Starter Strip over the ice and water membrane and the drip edge.
If using the Pro-Cut 6xr Starter Strip Roll, roll into place with the sealant tack line next to the
eave edge, remove release sheet and press into place.
Abut end joints of the Pro-Cut 6xr Starter Strip Roll, making sure such abutments do not occur
over any overlaps or seams of the ice and water membrane or at shingle butt joints.
Pro-Cut Starter Strip should overhang the eave edge and rake edges approximately ¼"
consistently around the roof edges.
Where the non-corrosive drip edges extend beyond the roof decking, Pro-Cut Starter Strip may
be installed flush with the drip edge.
Fasten the Pro-Cut Starter Strip per the diagram above, using the same nails as used to fasten
the field shingles.
Proceed to install field shingles per the instructions on the shingle wrapper.
Pro-Cut Starter Strip is formulated to be installed in ambient temperatures of 40°F and above.
Always store Pro-Cut Starter Strip at room temperature until use.
