3. Installation requirements
3.1. Mechanical and electrical
In order to ensure that the standards compliance of the DIVA8 System VACIE are not
compromised, the interconnections to the Fire Detection System the FACIE, power supplies,
remote paging consoles, network infrastructure and other VACIE components must be
installed in accordance with the provisions of applicable electricity, cabling and safety
directives. This includes the DIVA8 System VACIE operation manuals for each piece of
equipment and this guide.
The information contained in the appendices of this document, 7.1- A1, is the most important
and provides detailed specifications and requirements for component parts.
The DIVA8 System VACIE must be installed and commissioned by those who have completed
the appropriate training courses conducted by ATEÏS. Once the installation and
commissioning process is completed, software access to the VACIE is restricted to authorised
service personnel only at Access level 4.
In case multiple ‘linked’ cabinets for the DIVA8 System VACIE are used, the DIVA8MG2
Master unit and DIVA8S Slave unit are designed to be connected together and to be powered
by the BECS150 EN54-4 battery charger or equivalent in each rack. Power supplies and
Ethernet switches which comply with all applicable standards must be provided to support the
system and the units interconnected in accordance with those standards. The system installer
should be aware of the local standards and specific clauses that apply.
3.2. Cabling Interconnections
Ethernet and interconnecting cabling must be installed appropriately to support standards
compliance of the DIVA8 System VACIE. Specifically, any cabling between devices or that
goes to remote accessories like loudspeakers and paging consoles must support the DIVA8
line detection strategy. In order to comply, DIVA8 System VACIE is equipped with impedance
measuring on outgoing lines.
Loudspeakers
For the loudspeaker lines, a twisted pair of sufficient size needs to be used in order to ensure
no bigger voltage losses than 10%. A pair is used for the A group and a second pair for the B
group loudspeaker lines. (A&B in case of BSI5839 compliance)
Remote consoles
The paging consoles are using a standard FTP-CAT5-cable. The shield is very important and
needs to be connected at both ends, rack side and paging console or junctionbox side.
CIE
The DIVA8 System VACIE provides an interface between the CIE and the VACIE rack. The
cables that provide interconnection between the VACIE rack and CIE should be installed as a
cable loom.
