• Looseconnectionscanresultinaseveredecreaseinvoltage,whichmaycausedamagetothewiresand
insulation.
• Failuretomakeaproperconnectionbetweentheinverterandthepowersourcewillresultinreverse
polarity.Reversepolaritywillblowtheinternalfusesintheinverterandmay
causepermanentdamageto
theinverter.Damagecausedbyreversepolarityisnotcoveredunderthewarran ty.
• MakingtheconnectionbetweenthePositiveterminalsmaycauseasparkasaresultofcurrentflowingto
charge capacitors within the inverter. This is a normal occurrence. Due to the possi bility
of sparking,
however, it isextremelyimportant thatboththe inverterandthe 12volt batterybepositionedfar from
any possible source of flammable fumes or gases. Failure to heed this warning could result in fire or
explosion.
• Ifthecables suppliedwithyour powerinverter aretoo short
to allow for placementof the inverterina
desiredlocation,seethelastpageofthismanual forrecommendedwiregaugesand lengthstobeused.
Thestepsoutlinedformakingtheconnectionandtherelatedsafetyprecautionsremainunchanged.
• Theaudiblealarmmaymakea momentary"chirp”
whentheinverteristurnedOFF(0).Thissamealarm
mayalsosoundwhentheinverterisbeingconnectedtoordisconnectedfromthe12‐voltpowersource.
• Use of an extension cord from the inverter to the appliance or equipment being operated will not
significantlydecreasethepowerbeing
generatedbytheinverter.Forbestoperatingresults,theextension
cordshouldbenomorethan50feetlong.
TelevisionandAudioSug gestions
Althoughtheseinvertersareshieldedandfilteredtominimizesignalinterf er ence,someinterferencewithyour
televisionpicturemaybeunavoidable,especiallywithweaksignals.However,herearesomesuggestionsthatmay
improvereception.
1. First,makesurethattelevisionantennaproducesaclearsignalundernormaloperatingc onditions(i.e.,at
home
pluggedintoastandard110VACwalloutlet).Also,ensurethattheantennacableisproperlyshielded
andofgoodquality.
2. Changethepositionsoftheinverter,antennacablesandtelevisionpowercord.
3. Isolatethetelevision,itspowercordandantennacablesfromthe12‐voltpowersource
byrunningan
extensioncordfromtheinvertertothetelevisionset.
4. Coilthetelevisionpowercordandtheinputcablesrunningfromthe12‐voltpowersourcetotheinverter.
5. Attacha"FerriteDataLineFilter"tothetelevisionpowercord.Morethanonefiltermayberequired.
These
filtersareavailableatmostelectronicsupplystores.
Note
• Inexpensivesoundsystemsmayemita"buzzing"soundwhenoperatedwiththeinverter.Thisisdueto
inadequatefiltersinthesoundsystem.Thereisnosolutiontothisproblemshortofpurchasingasound
systemwithahigherqualitypowersupply.
BlownAutomotiveFuses
Dependingonthemakeandmodelofyourautomobile,runningthepowerinverternearfullcapacityfromyour
cigarettelighterportma yresultinablownautomotivecigarettelighterfuse.Thisfusewillneed tobereplaced
withthesamesizefuse.Pleasenote,ablownautomotivefusewillnotcause
damagetoyourcarwiring.Toavoid
blowinganautomotivefuseinthissituation,donotoperatethepowerinverterover200wattsforextended
periodsoftimefromyourcigarettelighteror12voltpowerport.
