GettingStarted
Whenyouturnonanapplianceoratoolthatoperatesusingamotorortubes,itrequiresaninitialsurgeofpower
to start up. This surge of power is referred to as the "starting load" or "peak load". Once started, the tool or
appliancerequires lesspower tocontinue
to operate.This isreferred to as"continuousload" in terms of power
requirements. Youwill needto determinehowmuchpower your tool orappliance requires tostart up (starting
load) and it's continued running power requirements (continuous load). Power consumption is rated either in
wattage(watts)orin
amperes(amps)andthisinformationisusuallystampedorprintedonmostappliancesand
equipment. If this inf orma tion is not indicated on the appliance or equipment, check the owner's manual or
contactthemanufacturertodetermineifthedeviceyouareusingiscompatiblewithamodifiedsinewavesource.

This formula yields a closeapproximation ofthe starting load ofyourappliance.Most oftenthe start uploadof
theapplianceorpowertooldetermineswhetheryourinverterhas
thecapabilitytopowerit.
To determine whether the inverter will operate a particular piece of equipment or appliance, run a test. The
inverters are designed to automatically shut down in the event of a power overload. This protection feature
preventsdamagetotheunitwhiletestingappliancesandequipment
withratingsinthe200wattrange.
If an appliance in the 200 watt range will not operate properly when first connected to the inverter, turn the
inverterrockerswitchON(I),OFF(O),andON(I)againinquicksuccession.Ifthisprocedureisnotsuccessful,itis
likelythat
theinverterdoesnothavetherequiredcapacitytooperatetheapplianceinquestion.

invertertoanyotherpowersource,includinganyACpowersource.
