Answering system
Message counter displays
The message counter usually displays the total
number of answering system messages. See the
table below for other message counter displays.

No messages.

(flashing)
The clock needs to be set (pages 53-54).
02, 04, 06, Displayed while setting the number of
rings (page 59).

Displayed for two seconds while
adjusting the telephone base speaker
volume.

Total number of old messages and
memos, or message number currently
playing.

(counting) Elapsed time while recording a memo
(page 64) or announcement up to 90
seconds (page 56).

(flashing) Total number of messages and memos.
The number flashes when there are new
(unreviewed) messages.
After a power failure, the number in the
message counter will flash to indicate the
clock needs to be set.

Memory is full. Messages must be
(alternating) deleted before new messages can be
recorded.

Current remote access code while setting

(flashing) A memo recording is longer than 99
seconds.
