Chapter 4: Additional Installation Options
This chapter describes several installation modifications that you can make that may
improve the operation of the CLASSIC MAIL system and your Merlin telephone
system.
Expanding a Two-Port Installation
The CLASSIC MAIL system can be initially installed in either of two configurations:
two-port or four-port. If you have initially installed a two-port CLASSIC MAIL
system, you may eventually need to expand its capability to four ports. Expanding
a two-port CLASSIC MAIL system increases the possible number to simultaneous
system users from two to four, and increases the total system message storage
capacity from approximately three to six and one half hours.
Expanded CLASSIC MAIL systems plug into four voice terminal jacks and four
outside line jacks on your Control Unit. An expanded CLASSIC MAIL system is
installed as shown in Figure 4A.
