To open the attendant’s mailbox:
1. Press any labeled outside line button on any Merlin telephone. See Figure 31.
2. When you hear the dial tone
press
The confirming message, "Enter your mailbox number
and password, then press pound... ” plays.
3. Enter the intercom number of your attendant. See Appendix A, “Installation Data
Form,” Attendant’s Intercom Number.
4. Enter the attendant’s password (initially set to 0000).
To verify the results of the self-initialization process:
5. The series of messages, "Control Unit type is... Control Unit software is... The
following outside lines are in service..." plays.
This series of messages reports the results of a self–initialization process that the
CLASSIC MAIL system goes through when first powered on. During this process, the
CLASSIC MAIL system conducts tests to determine the type of Merlin Control Unit
it is connected to, the type of feature package software installed in the Control Unit,
and the number of outside lines connected to the Control Unit. The CLASSIC MAIL
system may not have been able to determine these attributes accurately if your
Control Unit was in use when you first turned the CLASSIC MAIL system on,
therefore these results may not match your actual Control Unit attributes. If this
