Labeling Your Telephones
The CLASSIC MAIL system includes a set of voice mail labels that attach to your
Merlin telephones. These labels indicate which outside line buttons can be used to
gain access to messages stored by the CLASSIC MAIL system. It is important that all
of your Merlin telephones have these labels attached. See Figure 3I.
For each Merlin telephone in your business:

Attach a label next to each outside line button corresponding to the lines plugged
into the CLASSIC MAIL system’s interposed line jacks. (You recorded these lines on
the Installation Data Form earlier.)
Perform Test 4.
TEST 4
1. Press each Labeled outside line button.
2. When you hear dial tone
The CLASSIC MAIL system should answer.
3. Hangup.
If this test fails, turn to Chapter 10, "Troubleshooting Tables."
