Note:

Never power the CLASSIC MAIL system off during the initialization process. If you want to turn the

CLASSIC MAIL system off wait until initialization is complete, then unplug the power supply.

4. Perform tests 2 and 3.

TEST 2

For each outside line (C, D, and so forth) now connected to the CLASSIC MAIL system:

1. Press the corresponding line button on a Merlin telephone.

2. When you hear dial tone

3. The CLASSIC MAIL system should answer. Hang Up.

this test fails, turn to Chapter 10, “Troubleshooting Tables. ”

TEST 3

1. Call each of your outside lines, one at a time.

2. Let the call ring. The CLASSIC MAIL system should answer the call after fourth ring. (If the

outside line you call was in use during the initialization process, this test may fail.)
