2. Make sure an AC power plug is within ten feet of the mounting location.
3. Make sure that the CLASSIC MAIL system is not located close to heating vents or
other heat sources.
4. Make sure that all four sides of the CLASSIC MAIL system has six inches of
ventilation space. Do not install the CLASSIC MAIL system in an enclosed cabinet.

Tape the mounting template to the wall at the desired location.
Install the three mounting screws through the location targets on the template, into
the wall. Leave a 1/4 inch clearance between each screw head and the wall
surface. Tear away and discard the mounting template.
Position the mounting clasps on the back surface of the CLASSIC MAIL system over
the mounting screw heads and lower it until it locks into position. See Figure 3A.
following installation procedures are for installing a two-port CLASSIC MAIL system. Any
additional installation steps associated with four-port installations are explained by notes located at the
end of each installation step.
Interposing the CLASSIC MAIL System between your Outside Lines and
Control Unit
In this step you interpose the CLASSIC MAIL system between two outside lines and
your Merlin Control Unit. See Figure 1B in Chapter 1, "Introduction". The outside
lines you connect to the CLASSIC MAIL system will become the lines you use to gain
access to your stored messages.
