Direct Local Connection 8
For a direct local connection, you must connect the PC to the system
programming jack. This is the lower modular RS-232 jack on the processor
module, as shown in Figure 6-2. (The upper jack is reserved for the SMDR
printer.)
To connect a PC more than 50 feet from the control unit, see Figure 6-3.
For direct local connections, the system supports speeds of 1,200 and
2,400 bps.
If you have multiple modems installed in your system, after clicking
OK, you may be prompted to select the modem you want to connect
with.
Clicking CANCEL from the Connection Selection screen causes you
to return to either the Main screen or the First-Time User Wizard,
depending on from where the screen was started.
While setting up a Manual Connection, you will also be prompted to
set the Maximum Speed for connection. It is recommended that you
select 2400.
You must use a direct local connection to program in Surrogate mode.
