Fax on Demand Connector
Fax on Demand Connector
The Fax on Demand Connector is the link between VSI-FAX and the Esker multi-channel e-document delivery
solution, a.k.a. Esker on Demand. This connection allows VSI-FAX to automatically fax business documents directly
from your company and desktop applications through outsourced fax service providers.
The Fax on Demand Connector for VSI-FAX is easy to implement and easy to use. It requires no custom
programming, no disruption of existing business processes, and no changes to existing file formats. Once the Fax on
Demand Connector is configured and enabled, a job can be submitted to the Esker on Demand server from VSI-FAX.
Two Fax on Demand devices are installed by default (FoDC and FoDC2). The first one points to the USA Esker on
Demand server while the second one point to the European Esker on Demand server. Having two possible servers
allows failover management, meaning that if a Fax on Demand destination is not available, then your faxes can be
automatically processed by the other connector waiting for the primary location to be available again. Refer to
Managing failover with the Fax on Demand Connector
to learn more about his feature.
Important
You do not need to purchase any additional license to fax through Esker on Demand; the Fax on Demand
Connector is included within all standard VSI-FAX licenses.
Configuration overview
There are two parts to setting up the Fax on Demand Connector in VSI-FAX:
1. Establishing an Esker on Demand account.
2. Configuring and enabling the Fax on Demand Connector.
Each part is covered in detail in this documentation.
Establishing an Esker on Demand account
To have access to the Esker on Demand server, you need to:
1. Obtain an Esker on Demand ID and password. For this, contact your Esker Account Manager and ask for an
Esker on Demand account to be created for your company.
2. Know the name of the Esker on Demand server you'll be communicating with. This information is provided by
Esker when your Esker on Demand account is opened.
3. Have an Internet connection between VSI-FAX at your site and the Esker on Demand server.
Configuring and enabling the Fax on Demand Connector
VSI-FAX Server installation program automatically installs the Fax on Demand Connector and creates a fax
destination called FoDC and another one named FoDC2 for you. The FoDC2 destination is disabled by default.
This is the destination to use for sending fax jobs to the Esker on Demand server.
To be able to fax thru Esker on Demand, you simply need to enter the following Esker on Demand connection
information in the server configuration file and enable the Fax on Demand Connector (it is disabled by default after
setup):
