If the form was published in the organizational form, you can try copying it locally in the personal forms folder to verify
that there is no problem accessing the form on the exchange server.
Outlook extension
VSI-FAX is an Outlook extension. If the fax buttons do not appear, you can verify that the extensions is correctly
installed by checking the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions
The VSI-FAX Outlook client extension should appear.
In some case, the extensions are cached by Outlook and are not loaded. Refer to Important caching information
to
learn how you can clear the Outlook cache.
Traces activation
You can activate some tracing with the following procedure:
1. Open the registry.
2. Set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VSI-FAX\Outlook client\debugLevel to 255 ( 255 in decimal = ff in
hexadecimal).
3. Install the debugview tool that can be found on the sysinternals.com web site.
4. Launch this tool and you can capture traces when using the client and even when installing or reinstalling it
(the key needs to be set manually before the installation).
Known issues & Tricks
Fax address format
In some cases, the usual [fax:<faxnb>] format will not work because there is already another Fax Integration in
Outlook from other software (or from Esker Deliveryware for instance). The fax is then sent by this other integration.
In this case, you can use the undocumented [vfn: <faxnb>] format to send faxes from Outlook.
Cover page issue
When sending from the Outlook client, the status window is completely grayed out and the fax is not sent.
This problem occurs because a setting of the fax is incorrect. You can activate the traces to have further information.
