mode.
Notes
The reason the Outlook Client will not work with Outlook in Internet only mode is that our fax technology requires
the full MAPI DLLs, which are only installed when you configure Outlook for Corporate or Workgroup mode.
For best results and performances, it is recommended that you have an up-to-date version of Microsoft Office,
with he latest available service pack installed.
The preferred way to use the Outlook Client is to use Outlook with a Microsoft Exchange Server. Although this is the
preferred configuration, the Exchange Server is not required. However, if you run Outlook without an Exchange
Server, you will not have access to the custom fax form.
Large-scale deployment
For the most effective large-scale client deployment:
Publish the fax message form once to the Organizational Forms Library on your Exchange server. Do this by
running the VSI-FAX Outlook Client setup on a machine with which you have administrative and Exchange
publication privileges. Subsequent client installations should just answer "No" to the dialog prompting for re-
publishing the fax message form.
Turn on the remote registration option on the fax server.
Set up the master default profile on the fax server with reasonable defaults for your organization.
What you need to know before installing Outlook Client
Outlook needs to be closed prior to launching the Outlook client setup.
During the installation, you will have to choose the VSI-FAX form publication location:
On the Exchange server: Organizational Forms Library (your Outlook user then needs to have the appropriate
publication rights)
Locally: Personal Forms Library. This option cannot be chosen in a Terminal Service Environment as only the
user doing the installation would have the form available
No publication. Used when you don't want to use the fax form but rather a regular Mail message form. Also
used when you are not in an Exchange environment.
At the end of the setup, you will need to enter the VSI-FAX server name or IP address as well as the user ID used
when connecting to the VSI-FAX server and sending a fax.
