Installing VSI-FAX Server on Unix/Linux
This section describes how to install a VSI-FAX server on a supported Unix or Linux platform.

(page 237) to provide the information required during this
installation.
Installing fax drivers
With Diva Server fax boards, you should first install and configure your board before installing VSI-FAX Server. For
more information, refer to Installing Diva Server fax boards drivers in the Fax Boards and Fax Drivers Installation
documentation.
With Brooktrout TR1034-TruFax boards, you should install VSI-FAX Server first then install the Brooktrout drivers and
configure your board. For details, refer to Installing Brooktrout drivers package and configuring your board on
Unix/Linux in the Fax Boards and Fax Drivers Installation
documentation.
To use the Brooktrout SR140 fax software, you should install VSI-FAX Server first then install the Brooktrout drivers,
obtain an SR140 Fax Software license, activate this license and configure SR140. For details, refer to Installing
Brooktrout drivers package and configuring SR140 on Unix/Linux in the Fax Boards and Fax Drivers Installation
documentation.
Installing VSI-FAX Server
VSI-FAX is supplied on CD-ROM media. Follow the explanations in Installing VSI-FAX with the CD-ROM to perform
the installation using the CD-ROM.
You may need to install a VSI-FAX version using a downloaded file. For this, refer to Installing VSI-FAX using a
downloaded file.
Note
When installing on Red Hat 4/5, you need to have the libstdc++.so.5 installed. Refer to Installing libstdc++.so.5 on
Red Hat Enterprise 4/5 for details.
Installing VSI-FAX with the CD-ROM
Because VSI-FAX is supplied on CD-ROM media, you must either know the Unix or Linux mount command required
to mount the CD-ROM drive or know how to use Windows Explorer to gain access to the files on the CD-ROM.
1. Log in as root.
2. Open a terminal window if you are running X Windows.
3. Load your VSI-FAX product CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
