Music On Hold system
Equipment that lets you play recorded music or
messages to callers who are placed on hold. A
music-on-hold audio source must be connected to
an RCA jack on the processor module in the control
unit.

Night Service
A communications system feature that is used in
conjunction with Automated Attendant Service to
activate the night menu prompt.

One-touch Intercom Calling button
See Auto Dial button.
P
Programmable button
A telephone button that does not have a line
assigned; it can be set up to dial a number or
access a feature.
Programming extension
An extension from which you can program the
communications system. It can be either extension
10 or 11.
R
Receptionist
The person who is primarily responsible for
answering outside calls. This is the person at
extension 10.
S
Selector codes
A single digit (1–9) used to define transfer options
for outside callers on the Automated Attendant
Service menu. See also Menu definition and Menu
prompt.
Standard phone
An industry-standard touch-tone or rotary phone
such as you might have in your home. Some
standard phones include special feature buttons for
frequently used calling functions. See also

Subscriber
A user who is assigned a mailbox.
System Manager
The person responsible for managing both the
communications and voice messaging systems.
System phones
The AT&T telephones that are specifically designed
for use with PARTNER systems. Models include the
MLS-34D, MLS-18D, MLS-12D, MLS-6, and MLC-6
phones.
System programming
Procedures that allow you to customize the
communications system settings for your business.
System programming requires an MLS-34D,
MLS-18D, or MLS-12D phone and must be done
from extension 10 or 11.

Telephone programming
Customizes extensions to meet the needs of
individual users, including the assignment of
features to programmable buttons. Telephone
Programming can be done either centrally or from
the user’s own extension. See also Centralized

Tutor Service
A voice messaging system feature that lets any
communications system user access and listen to
information about their phone and commonly-used
communications system features.
