Aftersettingtheconnectiontype,youare
tosetupyourwirelessinterface,.First,give
anSSID(ServiceSetIdentier),whichisa
uniqueidentifierattachedtopacketssent
overWLANs.Thisidentifieremulatesa
passwordwhenawirelessdeviceattempts
communicationontheWLAN.Because
anSSIDdistinguishesWLANsfromeach
other,accesspointsandwirelessdevices
tryingtoconnecttoaWLANmustusethesameSSID.
Also,ifyouwanttoprotecttransmitteddata,selectamiddleorhighSecurityLevel.
Medium :
onlyuserswiththesameWEPkeyaretoconnecttothisaccesspointand
to transmit data using 64bits or 128bits WEP key encryption.
High:
onlyuserswiththesameWPApre-sharedkeyaretoconnecttothisaccess
pointandtotransmitdatausingTKIPencryption.
TheASUSwirelessrouterconfigurationpagefeaturesaconvienientapproachto
setuptheWEPKeys:withonlyafewtapsonyourkeyboardtodenethePassphrase,
thesystemwillautomaticallygeneratefourstringsofWEPKeys.ForASUSwireless
adaptorusers,itisno longernecessarytoinputlong andcomplicatedWEPKeys
whenconnectingtherouterwiththewirelessclient;thePassphraseprovidesaneasy
wayforsettingupyourwirelessenvironment!
For example, if we input select WEP-
64bits encryption mode, input 11111 as
Passphrase,thenthefollowingWEPKeys
aregeneratedasshownintherightpicture.
RecordthePassphraseandtheWEPkeys
onyournotebook,thenclickSave.
