Thelicensesformostsoftwarearedesignedtotakeawayyour
freedomtoshareandchangeit.Bycontrast,theGNUGeneral
PublicLicenseisintendedtoguaranteeyourfreedomtoshare
andchangefreesoftware--tomakesurethesoftwareisfreeforall
itsusers.ThisGeneralPublicLicenseappliestomostoftheFree
SoftwareFoundation’ssoftwareandtoanyotherprogramwhose
authorscommittousingit.(SomeotherFreeSoftwareFoundation

Whenwespeakoffreesoftware,wearereferringtofreedom,not
price.OurGeneralPublicLicensesaredesignedtomakesurethat
youhavethefreedomtodistributecopiesoffreesoftware(and
chargeforthisserviceifyouwish),thatyoureceivesourcecodeor
can get it if you want it, that you can change the software or use
piecesofitinnewfreeprograms;andthatyouknowyoucando
