2.2 Central Processing Unit (CPU)
The motherboard comes with two surface mount LGA 1151 sockets designed for the Intel
®
Xeon
®
E5-1200 v5 processor family.
2.2.1 Installing the CPU
To install a CPU:
1. LocatetheCPUsocketonthemotherboard.
EnsurethatallpowercablesareunpluggedbeforeinstallingtheCPU.
• Uponpurchaseofthemotherboard,ensurethatthePnPcapisonthesocketand
the socket contacts are not bent. Contact your retailer immediately if the PnP cap
is missing, or if you see any damage to the PnP cap/socket contacts/motherboard
components.ASUSshoulderstherepaircostonlyifthedamageisshipment/transit-
related.
• Keepthecapafterinstallingthemotherboard.ASUSwillprocessReturnMerchandise
Authorization(RMA)requestsonlyifthemotherboardcomeswiththecapontheLGA
1151 socket.
• Theproductwarrantydoesnotcoverdamagetothesocketcontactsresultingfrom
incorrectCPUinstallation/removal,ormisplacement/loss/incorrectremovalofthePnP
cap.
BeforeinstallingtheCPU,ensurethatthesocketboxisfacingtowardyouandtheload
lever is on your right.
