2Installation
This chapter describes how to install and test the Mellanox InfiniBand OFED Driver for VMware
vSphere package on a single host machine with Mellanox InfiniBand and/or Ethernet adapter hard-
ware installed. The chapter includes the
following sections:

2.1 Hardware and Software Requirements

2.1.2 Software Requirements
The InfiniBand OFED driver package for VMware vSphere 4 is based on the OpenFabrics Enter-
prise Distribution, OFED 1.4.1.

2.1.3 Upper Layer Protocols (ULPs) Support
InfiniBand OFED driver for VMware vSphere 4.x supports the following ULPs:
y IP over InfiniBand (IPoIB)
y SCSI RDMA Protocol (SRP)
2.1.4 Tools
The package includes (and installs) the ibstat utility which allows the user to retrieve information
on the InfiniBand devices and ports installed on an ESX Server.
To use
ibstat , the IPoIB driver must be loaded and at least one IPoIB interface must be available.
