2.1.3 AFUWIN utility
The AFUWIN utility allows you to update the BIOS le in a Windows
®
environment.
To update the BIOS using AFUWIN:
1. Download the latest BIOS le for your motherboard from the ASUS
website (www.asus.com) and save the BIOS le to a new folder.
2. Copy the AFUWIN utilities (Afwin.exe and AMIFLDrv.sys) from the
motherboard support CD to the folder with the downloaded BIOS le.
3. Click
Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt to run the
DOS command promt. You can also click Start > RUN, then type cmd
at the prompt.
4. From the command prompt, change the directory to the folder with
the BIOS le and AFUWIN utilities, then type:
afuwin /i[BIOS lename]
Write the BIOS lename on a piece of paper. You need to type the exact
BIOS lename at the DOS prompt later.
C:\BIOS>afuwin /iP5L-MXIP.ROM
5. The utility returns to the command prompt after the BIOS update
process is completed. Type Exit to return to Windows.
C:\BIOS>afuwin /iP5L-MXIP.ROM

The utility veries the le and starts updating the BIOS.
Do not shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS to
prevent system boot failure!
6. Restart your computer.
