Safety precautions For your safety and to keep your phone in good operating condition, read the following tips and reminders carefully before using your phone. Do not use your phone while driving, unless you use an earphone or hands-free car kit. Switch off the phone when you are inside a hospital or near medical equipment. Follow hospital rules and regulations on using devices that may cause interference. Switch off the phone while in an aircraft.

Function keys When the phone is in idle mode, you can press the following function keys to launch some of the most common phone functions and features.
Multi-color LED indicator The phone comes with a multi-color LED located below the external display. This LED displays the phone, message, or call status in four different color indications. Color Status Purple (flashing) Default (Idle) Red Battery is charging Red (flashing) Battery low warning Green Battery is fully charged Green (flashing) Missed call New SMS/MMS message LED indicator Aside from the four-color LED indicator, seven colors are available for caller identification.
Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card The phone operator provides you with a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card that stores your mobile phone number, phone book entries, SMS/MMS messages, graphics, etc. Install the SIM card before you install the battery. The SIM card usually comes embedded on a plastic card. Read the SIM card documentation before removing the SIM card. Remove any rough edges on the SIM card before you install it to the phone. To install the SIM card: 1.
To remove or replace a SIM card: 1. When installed, remove the battery following the instructions in the next section. 2. From the dent (A) on the SIM card slot, use your fingertip to push the SIM card halfway out of the slot. A 3 2 3. Carefully pull the SIM card out from the SIM card slot. Set the SIM card aside. 4. Replace the SIM card following the instructions in the previous section. Battery A rechargable Lithium-Ion battery powers your mobile phone.
Installing and removing the battery Follow these instructions to install the battery to the mobile phone. To install the battery: 1. Insert the battery hooks to the holes on the bottom of the battery compartment. 2. Push the battery to the direction of the arrow until it clicks in place. To remove the battery: 1. Push the battery latch upward until the battery ejects from the unit. 2. Lift the battery until it is disengaged from the battery terminals. Set the battery aside.
Charging the battery Make sure that the battery is properly installed before charging. 1 To charge the battery: 1. Connect the charger to a power source. 2 Flip open the I/O connector cover on the side of the phone. 3. Connect the power cable plug to the I/O connector. 2 3 Disconnect the charger from the power source and the plug from the mobile phone when charging is complete.
When the phone is on The battery icon on both external and main displays animates to indicate that the battery is charging. It takes about two to three hours to fully charge the battery. A message appears on the display to tell you that the battery is fully charged. The battery icon now shows four green bars. Signal strength Your phone has an external antenna and signal strength icon in both main and external LCD displays to indicate the signal level. Refer to the table for signal strength indications. Camera Your phone comes with a built-in camera that allows you to capture, edit, and share photos and videos with other mobile phone, PDA, notebook, or PC users. Refer to Chapter 5 “Having fun” for more information.
Switching the phone ON or OFF To turn O N the phone: 1 Open the phone flip top to access the keypad. 2. Press and hold for a few seconds until the display turns on. 3. If you are asked for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) code, key-in the code using the keypad, then press . The main display shows the idle screen. • Some SIM cards come with a default PIN code. Read the SIM card documentation before entering the PIN code. • The phone allows you to enter the PIN code in three attempts.

Display layout The phone display area has three parts when in idle mode. Icon/Title bar In i d l e mode, this bar shows the indicator icons. In either m e n uu, s u b - m e n uu, or function modes, this bar shows the name of the current menu, sub-menu, or function. Soft key bar This bar shows the current functions of the left and right soft keys. The soft key functions vary depending on the selected menu.
Other display modes The phone display varies according to menu levels and modes.
Indicator icons The icons that appear on the displays indicate the activated phone features and alert you of an SMS/MMS message or other useful information. The screen displays below show all the icons in the main and external displays. Refer to the table on the next page for a description of each icon.

Main menu The icons in the main menu represents all the functions and features of [ ] your mobile phone. You can open the main menu by pressing when the phone is in idle mode. When selected, the menu icon animates and the screen shows the menu description on the bottom left corner of the display. Refer to the table below for a brief description of the menu icons and the their functions. Icon Description N e t w o r kk.
Navigating the main menu To navigate the main menu: Use the navigation buttons to select a menu icon, then press to display the menu items. For example, if you want to select S e t t i n g ss, press (left) once to select, then press . OR Press the corresponding menu icon number on the keypad to launch the menu. For example, if you want to select S e t t i n g ss, press to display the Settings menu. By default, the C a m e r a icon is selected everytime you open the main menu.
Changing initial settings You need to change some initial phone settings such as the date, time, time zone, and greeting text before using the phone. These initial settings are important so you can synchronize the mobile phone and your current location time. Setting the date and time To set the date and time: 1. From the Phone Settings sub-menu, select Date/Time to display the date and time options. (up) or (down) to select Set Date/Time Date/Time. The 2.
Setting the time zone To set the time zone: 1. From the Phone Settings sub-menu, select Date/Time Date/Time. (up) or (down) to 2. From the Date/Time menu items, press select Set Time Zone Zone. The current time zone is displayed above the soft key bar. 3. If the time zone is incorrect, press to display the S e t T i m e Z o n e screen. 4. Press (up) or (down) to highlight the correct time zone, then press to select. The time difference of the selected time zone is displayed above the soft key bar. 5.
Setting the date format There are three available date formats you can choose from. To set the date format: 1. From the Phone Settings sub-menu, select Date/Time Date/Time. (up) or (down) to 2. From the Date/Time menu items, press select Date Format Format. The default date format is displayed above the soft key bar. 3. To select another date format, press to display the D a t e F o r m a t screen. 4. Press press (up) or to select. 5.
Setting the time format You can select a 24-hour or a 12-hour time format. To set the time format: 1. From the Phone Settings sub-menu, select Date/Time Date/Time. (up) or (down) to 2. From the Date/Time menu items, press select Time Format Format. The default time format is displayed above the soft key bar. 3. To select another time format, press to display the T i m e F o r m a t screen. 4. Press press (up) or to select. 5.
Selecting a language To select a language: 1. From the Phone Settings sub-menu, select Language. The default language is displayed on top of the soft key bar. 2. To change the language, press to display the Select Language screen. (up) or (down) to highlight the language you want the 3. Press phone to use, then press to select. 4. When finished, press 36 (Back) to return to the previous menu.
Creating a greeting text The greeting text appears in the main display everytime you turn on the phone. To create a greeting text: 1. From the Phone Settings sub-menu, select Greeting Text Text. 2. Press to display the Greeting Text screen. 3. Press or to select the desired text format, use the keypad to key-in your greeting, then press . The greeting text is limited to 18 characters. A Set successfully! message appears to indicate that you have successfully created the greeting text.
Basic operations Placing a local call To place a local call: 1. Set the phone in idle mode. 2. Use the numeric keys [ to you wish to call, then press ] to key-in the number of the party . When available, the display shows the name and photo of the called party. Refer to Chapter 5 “Managing your phone book” for details on customizing contact information. 3. Talk to the called party when connected.
Placing an international call To place an international call: 1. Set the phone in idle mode. 2. Long press to display the (+) sign. 3. Use the numeric keys [ to ] to key-in the country code, area code, and phone number of the party you wish to call, then press . +6 3 2 6586687 32 Country code Area code Phone number 4. Talk to the called party when connected. The display shows the name and photo of the called party (when available), duration of the call, and audio status (Mute/Not Mute).
Calling a number from your phone book To call a number from your phone book: 1. Set the phone in idle mode, then press [ ] to display the names of contacts saved in the phone and/or SIM memory. 2. Press (up) or (down) to select the contact you wish to call. The contact number is displayed above the soft key bar. 3. Press to place the call. 4. When finished, press to terminate the call. Refer to the Chapter 5 “Managing your phone book” for details on how to create contact information in the phone book.
Using voice command to dial a number You must save at least one voice command or voice tag before you can use this feature. Refer to Chapter 9 “Organizing your stuff” for details. To use voice command to dial a number: 1. Set the phone in idle mode, then long press the camera button on the left side of the phone. 2. After the beep, clearly say the name of the party you wish to call. 3. The Voice Recognition screen records and processes the voice command.
Using speed dial You should have previously assigned a phone number to one of the speed dialing keys before using this feature. Refer to Chapter 5 “Managing your phone book” for details on speed dialing. To use speed dialing: 1. Press an assigned speed dial key [ to ] , then press . The phone calls the number that corresponds to the assigned speed dial key. 2. Talk to the called party when connected.
Initiating a conference call You can talk to two parties at the same time using the conference call feature of the mobile phone. To initiate a conference call: 1. Place a call to person A. The display shows this screen when a party is placed on hold. 2. When connected (Option), press select Hold from the menu, then press to put person A on hold. (Option), 3. Press select New Call or Search Names from the menu, then press to call person B.
4. Place a call to person B using the keypad (when you selected New Call Call), or the phone book (when you selected Search Names Names). When connected, the display shows person B’s name (or number), photo (when available), and duration of the call. (Option), 5. Press then select Conference from the menu. You can now talk simultaneously with person A and B.
Recording a conference call You can record the proceedings of a conference call using the voice recorder. To record a conference call: 1. During the conference call, press (Option), select V oice Record from the menu, then press . The voice recorder records the conference and displays the recording time on the bottom right corner of the display. 2. To stop or pause the recording, press (Mute). Press (Unmute) to continue recording.
Talking privately to a conference call member You can talk privately to a conference call member using the split feature of the call conference function. To talk privately to a conference call member: 1. During the conference call, press (Option), select Members from the menu, then press . 3. Press (Option), select Split from the menu, then press to split the selected member from the conference call. 46 2. The display shows the conference call members.
To talk privately to another conference call member: 1. After you finished talking to the first conference call member, press (Option), select Swap from the menu, then press . 2. The other conference call member is selected. You can now talk to the other member privately while the other party is placed on hold. 3. To resume the conference, press (Option), select Conference from the menu, then press .
Terminating a conference call member To terminate a member from a conference call: 48 1. During the conference call, press (Option), select Members from the menu, then press . 2. The display shows the conference call members. Press (up) or (down) to highlight the member you want to terminate from the conference call. 3. Press (Option), select E n d from the menu, then press . You may still talk to the remaining conference call member.
Ending a conference call To end a conference call: During the conference call, press (Option), select End Call from the menu, then press . The conference call is terminated. OR (Option), select Members 1. During the conference call, press from the menu, then press to display the conference call members. 2. Select a member using (up) or (down), then press . 3. Repeat the process until all conference call members are terminated.
Answering a call When the phone receives an incoming call, it rings, vibrates, or rings and vibrates depending on your settings. There are four ways to answer an incoming call. • Open the phone flip top, then press on the line. • Open the phone flip top, then press (Option). Select A n s w e r from the menu, then press to receive the call. Start talking with the party on the line.
Adjusting the ring volume Your mobile phone has a convenient volume control button on the left side that allows you to quickly increase or decrease the phone volume. Increase volume Decrease volume DO NOT set a loud ring tone volume in places of worship, museums, hospitals and other places where noise is prohibited. To adjust the ring tone volume using the volume control buttons: 1. Open the phone flip top. 2.
Saving a phone number in the phone book Using the keypad To save a phone number using the keypad: 1. Key-in the phone number using the numeric keys 2. When done, press to . (Save). The Add Record screen appears 3. Key-in the details of the saved number (name, address, additional phone numbers, fax number, company phone number, etc.). You can navigate through the details by pressing (up) or (down). 4. When done, press (Save). Otherwise, press (Back) to cancel.
Using the Call Records When you dialed a number, received or missed a call, the number the called or calling party is automatically saved in the phone call records. You can save the phone numbers in the call records to your phone book. To save a dialed, received, or missed call number in the phone book: 1. Press once to display the Call Records screen. 2. Press (up) or 3. Press (Option), then select Save to Phonebook from the menu. (down) to select a call record entry. 4.
Entering text You will need to enter text to use several phone functionalities. For example, storing a name entry in the phone book, creating a text message, or scheduling appointments in your calendar. Number/Symbol, and C h i n e s ee.
Changing text input modes While in the text editing screen, press to select either one of the text input modes. The currently selected mode is indicated by an icon, located on the top left corner of the screen. English text mode Chinese text mode Number/symbol mode After selecting the text input mode, select the text type by pressing . The currently selected text type is highlighted. Press to change the text type The default input mode is English.
General rules on text entry When entering text: • Use the alphanumeric keys to enter letters, numbers, and symbols. • Press a key repeatedly until your desired character appears on the screen (refer to the Character display chart for a list of letters and numbers that each key represents). • to shift between the input modes: English Press . Number/Symbols • to shift between lowercase and uppercase letters, or predictive text and Press normal text methods.

Use navigation keys to select the number or symbol, then press .
English mode The English mode features two methods of entering text, predictive and normal. The Predictive text method allows smart key-in of English words using single keystrokes. For each key you press, the program looks for possible word matches in the built-in dictionary, and displays them on the screen. Thus, you can display and enter a word using fewer keystrokes than the Normal text input.
Screen displays using predictive text input (P) (O) (H) (N) If you press (E), instead of in the above example, the word list displays a different set of words. Use to select another word. For example, PHONES. Press to enter the word.
To use the normal text method: For example, if you want to enter the word phone. 1. Press once to key-in p . 2. Press twice to key-in h . 3. Press thrice to key-in o . 4. Press twice to key-in n . 5. Press twice to key-in e . A character navigator appears on the top right corner of the main display showing the character corresponding the number of times you press a key.
Number/Symbol mode The Number/Symbol mode allows you to enter numbers and symbols. Select this mode to key-in numbers and symbols within your alphabetic text. To enter numbers: 1. Press to select the number mode (123). 2. Press the keys that correspond to the numbers that you wish to enter. To enter symbols: 1. Press to select the symbol mode (sym). 2. Press the number keys that correspond to the symbols that you wish to enter.
To display the available symbols: 1. Select the symbol mode (sym). The initial screen displays the first set of symbols assigned to the number keys. See Screen 1. 2. Press (down) twice to shift the symbols upward and display another set. Note that the symbols initially assigned to keys 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 disappear, and the symbols previously assigned to keys 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0 move up. Compare Screen 1 and Screen 2 2. 3. Press the key once more to display another set of symbols. See Screens 3, 4, and 5.

Settings The S e t t i n g s menu allows you to change and customize most of the phone settings and network configuration. With the S e t t i n g s menu, you can change the phone display, ring tone, call features, security, and network options. To access the S e t t i n g s menu: 1. Put the phone in idle mode, then press to display the main menu. 2. Use the navigation keys to select the S e t t i n g s icon press to display the S e t t i n g s menu. OR Press to display the S e t t i n g s menu.
Phone Settings You can change the basic phone settings such as the time, date, language, phone security, and other phone configuration using this menu. To access the P h o n e S e t t i n g s menu: From the S e t t i n g s menu, use S e t t i n g ss, then press . (up) or (down) to select P h o n e OR Press to display the Phone Settings menu... The Phone Settings menu has nine functions that you can select (up) or (down).
Security The Security menu allows you to activate, deactivate, or change the phone security settings. Menu item Allows you to PIN activate, deactivate, or change your Personal Identification Number (PIN) PIN2 change the second PIN Network Code change the network code Phone Lock Code activate, deactivate, or change the phone lock code DO NOT change the security settings of your phone if not necessary. Keep a record of your PIN, PIN2, and other security codes in a safe place.
Activating your PIN The default PIN and PIN2 codes come with the SIM card package. You must key-in the default codes before you can change them. Refer to the SIM card documentation for information on the PIN codes and PIN Unblocking Keys (PUK). 1 To activate the PIN: 2 1. Highlight P I N from the menu, then press 2. Select Act iva t e from the menu, then press 3 (Option). . 3. When prompted, key-in the PIN using the numeric keypad, then press .
Changing the PIN To change the PIN: 1. Highlight P I N from the menu, then press (Option). 2. Select M o d i f y from the menu, then press . 3. When prompted, key-in the current PIN using the numeric keypad, then press . 4. Key-in the new PIN using the numeric keypad, then press (down) to move to the confirmation field. 5. Key-in the new PIN again using the numeric keypad, then press . A Set successfully! message appears on screen to indicate that you have successfully changed the PIN.
Changing the PIN2 To change the PIN2: 1. Highlight P I N 2 from the menu, then press (Modify). 2. When prompted, key-in the current P I N 2 using the numeric keypad, then press . 1 If you are not able to enter the correct PIN in three attempts, the SIM card locks. You need to enter the PIN Unlocking Key 2 (PUK2) to unlock the SIM card. 2 3. Key-in the new PIN2 using the numeric keypad, then press (down) to move to the confirmation field. 4. Key-in the new PIN2 again using the numeric keypad, then press .
Changing the network code The network code is supplied by your phone operator. The network code is required when enabling some call security features such as call barring. To change the network code: 1 1. Highlight Network Code from the menu, then press (Option). 2. Select M o d i f y from the menu, then press . 3. When prompted, key-in the network code provided by your phone operator, then press . 4.
Activating the phone lock code • • • When, you are prompted to enter the code everytime you turn on the phone. You can assign a phone lock code of up to eight numeric characters. The default phone lock code is 0000. 1 To activate the phone lock code: 2 1. Highlight Phone Lock Code from the menu, then press . 2. When prompted, key-in the default phone lock code (0000) using the keypad, then press . A Set successfully! message appears on screen to indicate that you have successfully activated the PIN.
Changing the phone lock code To change the phone lock code: 1. Highlight Phone Lock Code from the menu, then press (Options). 2. Select M o d i f y from the menu, then press . 3. When prompted, key-in the current phone lock code using the keypad, then press . 4. Key-in the new phone lock code using the keypad, then press (down) to move to the confirmation field. 5. Key-in the new phone lock code again, then press .
Shortcuts The Shortcuts menu allows you to create shortcuts for common phone features and applications. You can quickly launch the Shortcuts menu by pressing when the phone is in idle mode. 1 Creating shortcuts To create a shortcut 1. Select Shortcut from the Phone Settings menu, then press . 2. Select an (EMPTY) shortcut, press (Option), then select E d i t from the menu. 3. Press to display the Shortcut List. The Shortcut List shows all available phone features such as SMS, MMS, Camera, etc. 4.
5. Select a command or function from the list, then press . The Shortcut menu shows the created shortcut. 5 6. Put the phone in idle mode, then press to display the shortcut list. 6 7. LED This menu allows you to activate the LED for several phone events and status. 1 Activating the LED To activate the LED for phone events or status: 2 1. Select L E D from the Phone Settings menu, then press . The display shows the available phone events or status. 2. Highlight an item, then press to activate the LED on the specified event or status. A check appears on the box preceding the event or function. 3. The LED is now activated for the phone event or status.
My Phone Number This menu allows you to save and easily retrieve your mobile phone numbers. To add a phone number: 1. Select M y P h o n e N u m b e r from the Phone Settings menu, then press . (Option), 2. Press select A d d from the menu, then press . 1 3. Key-in the contact name using the keypad, then press . 5. Press 78 3 2 4. Key-in the contact number using the keypad, then press . The screen displays the contact name in the list. (Back) to return to the previous menu.
Factory Settings The Factory Settings menu allows you to reset the device and revert all settings to their default values. 1 Reverting the phone to factory settings erases all previously saved data in the phone memory and resets all customized settings such as display, ring tone, and manners. Back up all your contact information to the SIM card or to your PC (using PC transmit) before you revert to the factory settings. Restoring the default settings To restore the default (factory) settings: 2 1.
Firmware Version To view the phone firmware version: 1. Highlight Firmware Version from the Phone Settings menu to show the firmware version on top of the soft key bar. 2. Press 80 (Back) to return to the previous menu.
Display settings The Display Settings menu allows you to change various display properties including the theme, wallpaper, animation, backlight, brightness, and display elements. To access the D i s p l a y S e t t i n g s menu: From the S e t t i n g s menu, use S e t t i n g ss, then press . (up) or (down) to select D i s p l a y OR Press to display the Display Settings menu. The Display Settings has ten functions that you can select using (up) or (down).
Brightness The Brightness menu allows you to adjust the main display brightness level. The display brightness is set to 80% by default. Adjusting the display brightness To adjust the display brightness: 1. Select Brightness from the Display Settings menu, then press . (left) to decrease, or (right) to increase the 2. Theme The T h e m e menu allows you to select the display color from four preset themes. Selecting the color theme To select the color theme for your display: 1. Wallpaper The Wallpaper menu allows you to select the main and external display wallpapers from preset or saved photos, and adjust the time before the wallpaper appears on screen. Changing the main or external display wallpaper To change the main or external display wall paper: 84 Waa llp a p e r 1. Select Wallp W from the Display Settings menu, then press to display the wallpaper menu. 2. Highlight M a i n Wallpaper or S u b W a llp a p e rr, then press to view available display wallpapers. 3.
Adjusting the wallpaper timer You can adjust the time before the selected wallpaper appears on the main and external displays. To adjust the wallpaper timer: 1. Select Wallpap Wallpapee r from the Display Settings menu, then press to display the wallpaper menu. 2. Highlight Wallpaper Timer Timer, then press to display the wallpaper timer options. 3. Highlight the wallpaper timer you wish to use, then press to select.
Power On/Off Animation The Power On/Off Animation menu allows you to select the animation everytime you turn the phone on or off. The animation is shows only on the main display. Changing the power on or off animation To change the power on or off animation: 1. Select Power On/ Off Anim. from the Display Settings menu, then press to display the available power on/off animation(s). (up) or 2. Press (down) to highlight an animation. (Option), 3. Press select S e t A s from the menu, then press . 4.
Main Idle Screen The Main Idle Screen menu allows you to show or hide the items appearing on the main display when the phone is in idle mode. Refer to the screen below for the location of these items. Operator Manner Time 1 Date To show or hide or the main idle screen items: 1. Select Main Idle Screen from the Display Settings menu, then press to display a list of main idle screen items. 2 2. Press (up) or (down) to highlight an item, then press to check or uncheck.
Sub Idle Screen The Sub Idle Screen menu allows you to select the screen for the external display when the phone is in idle mode. To select the external display screen: 1 1. Select Sub Idle Screen from the Display Settings menu, then press to display a list of external display screens. 2. Press select. (up) or (down) to highlight an item, then press 3. When you selected N o r m a ll, press to (Set). (up) or (down) to highlight an item, then press to 4. Press check or uncheck.
To display the business clock on the external display: 1. From the S u b I d l e S c r e e n menu, highlight B u s i n e s s C l o c kk, then press to select. 2. Press (Set) to display the local clock and the visiting clock. 3. Use the (up) or (down) button to select the local clock, then press (Option). 4. Select Set as Local from the menu, then press . A S e t Successfully! message appears to indicate that the local clock synchronized with the local time you specified using the Da t e /T im e menu.
5. Use the (up) or (down) button to select the visiting clock, then press (Option). 7. Use the (left) or (right) button to move the dateline across the world map until it is over the time zone for the visiting clock. Press to select the visiting clock time zone.
Clean Wallpaper The Clean Wallpaper feature allows you to hide all the items appearing on the main display when the phone is in idle mode. To enable the clean wallpaper feature: 1. Select Clean Wallpaper from the Display Settings menu, then press to display the menu options. 1 2 2. Press select. (up) or (down) to highlight an item, then press to • When you select Enable, any key restore restore, all the main display items are hidden and restored when you press any key.
Backlight Timer The backlight timer allows you to specify a time before the LCD display backlight turns off. Setting a shorter backlight timer saves battery power. To set the backlight timer: 1. Select the Backlight Timer item from the Display Settings menu, then press . 2. From the Backlight Timer list, highlight the desired time before the backlight turns off, then press to select. 3. Press 1 (Back) to return to the Display Settings menu.
Sleep Timer The sleep timer allows you to specify a time before the main and external display turns off. Setting a shorter sleep timer saves battery power. To set the sleep timer: 1 1. Select the Sleep Timer item from the Display Settings menu, then press . 2. From the Sleep Timer options, highlight the desired time before the main and external display turns off, then press to select. 3. Press (Back) to return to the Display Settings menu.
Ringtone The R i n g t o n e menu allows you to select, change, adjust, and compose the phone ring tone To access the R i n g t o n e menu: From the S e t t i n g s menu, use R i n g t o n ee, then press . (up) or (down) to select OR Press to display the R i n g t o n e menu. The R i n g t o n e menu has eight options that you can select using (up) or (down).
Incoming The phone comes with 20 pre-installed polyphonic ring tones that you can select using the I n c o m i n g ring tone menu. To set the incoming ring tone: 1 1. Select I n c o m i n g from the R i n g t o n e menu, then press 2. Highlight a ring tone to play using press to select. (up) or . (down), then You may assign a different incoming ring tone for a particular phone number. See Chapter 5 “Managing your phone book” for details. 2 3.
Power On Ringtone The Power On Ringtone menu allows you to select the tone played everytime you turn on the phone. To set the power on ring tone: 1. Power Off Ringtone The Power Off Ringtone menu allows you to select the tone played everytime you turn off the phone. To set the power off ring tone: 1.
Keytone The keytone sounds off everytime you press a key on the keypad. To select a keytone: 1. Select K e y t o n e from the Ringtone menu, then press . 2. Highlight a key tone (up) or using (down), then press to select. 3. Click (Back) to return to the R i n g t o n e menu.
Composer In addition to the pre-installed ringtones, you can compose five ring tones, each with up to 200 notes, if you know how to compose with musical notes. Composing a ring tone 1 To compose a ring tone: 1. Select C o m p o s e r from the R i n g t o n e menu, then press to display the list of composed ring tones. 2. Highlight an ( E M P T Y ) ring tone, press (Option), then select C o m p o s ee. The music staff appears on screen. 3. Use the keypad button to key-in the notes.
4. When done, press (Option), select Instrument Instrument, then press to display the available instrument sounds that you can use. 5. Use (up) or (down) to highlight an instrument, then press to select. Press (Back) to return to your composition. 6. Press (Option), select T e m p oo, then press to display the available tempo you can use for the composed ring tone. 7. Use to highlight a tempo, then press (Back) to listen to your composition. A low number option means a slow tempo.
8. Press (Option), select P l a yy, then press to listen to your composition. When playing, press (Stop) to stop. 9. When finished, press (Option), select S a v ee, then press text input screen appears. . The 10. Key-in a name for the composed ringtone, then press . A S e t successfully! message appears indicating that you have successfully composed and saved the new ringtone. 11. The new ring tone is displayed in the Composer list. Ring mode The ring mode menu allows you to select the behavior of your phone everytime you receive an incoming call. To select a ring mode: 1. Select Ring Mode from the Ringtone menu, then press 2. Highlight a ring mode using select. 3. Click (up) or . (down), then press to (Back) to return to the R i n g t o n e menu.
Volume Adjusting the volume To adjust the incoming ring volume: 102 1. Select V o l u m e from the R i n g t o n e menu, then press . 2. Select I n c o m i n g V o l u m ee, then press to display the Incoming Volume screen. Eight (8) bars indicate the volume level. The default setting is 2. 3. Press (left) to decrease the volume or (right) to increase the volume. The default ring tone is played the moment you adjust the volume. 4.
To adjust the earpiece volume: 1. Select E a r p i e c e V o l u m e from the Volume menu, then press . 2. Follow steps 3 to 4 of the previous section to adjust the earpiece volume. The default earpiece volume is 4. To adjust the key tone volume: 1. Select K e y T o n e from the Volume menu, then press . 2. Follow steps 3 to 4 of the previous section to adjust the keytone volume.
Misc Tones Switch To set miscellaneous tone alerts: 1. Select Misc Tones Switch from the Ringtone menu, then press to display a list of phone events that a tone alert can be assigned. (up) or (down), then press to 2. Highlight an item using select. All the items are enabled by default. When selected, a check mark appears on the box preceding the item. Call Settings The Call Settings menu allows you to enable and customize the call features of your mobile phone. To access the C a l l S e t t i n g s menu: From the S e t t i n g s menu, use S e t t i n g ss, then press . (up) or (down) to select C a l l OR Press to display the Call Settings menu. The Call Settings menu has nine items that you can select using (up) or (down).
Auto Redial This menu allows you to enable or disable the Auto Redial feature. Auto redialing allows the phone to redial the phone number when it is busy or when the called party does not answer. To enable Auto Redial: 1. Select Auto Redial from the Call Settings menu, then press 2. From the Auto Redial options, highlight O nn, then press activate the auto redial. 3. Press . 1 to (Back) to return to the Call Settings menu. The auto redial feature is disabled by default.
Speed Dial This menu allows you to activate or deactivate the speed dial feature of the mobile phone. Speed dialing allows you to dial a phone number by pressing an assigned key (1 ~ 10). Activating speed dial To activate speed dial: 1. Select Speed Dial from the C a l l S e t t i n g s menu, then press . 3. Select O nn, then press to enable speed dial. 1 3 2. Assigning the speed dial keys To assign the speed dial keys: 1. Select N u m b e r L i s t from the Speed Dial menu, then press . 4. Call Waiting Call waiting allows you to put on hold and answer an incoming call while attending to an earlier call. To enable Call Waiting: 1. Select Call Waiting from the Call Settings menu, then press . 2. From the Call Waiting options, highlight A c t i v a t ee, then press . 1 3. When prompted for confirmation, press (Yes). A Call Waiting Activated! message appears to indicate that you have enabled the feature. The screen returns to the Call Waiting menu. 4.
Hide My No. This feature allows you to show or hide your phone number to the mobile phone of the person you are calling. To show or hide your phone number: 1. Select Hide My No. from the Call Settings menu, then press 1 2. Highlight an option from the Hide My No. menu, then press select. Refer to the options description below. .
Call Barring The call barring feature allows you to block incoming or outgoing calls to and from your mobile phone. To set your call barring settings: 1. Select Call Barring from the Call Settings menu, then press 2. Highlight an option from the Call Barring menu, then press select. Refer to the options description below. Bars all outgoing calls Out-All Out- Int. Calls Out-Exc. Home Bars all outgoing international calls In-All In-Roaming Bars all incoming calls .
Call Forwarding The call forwarding feature allows you to forward an incoming call to another phone when your mobile phone is busy, turned off, out of the network coverage area, or when you missed the call. Activating call forwarding To activate call forwading: 1. Select Call Forwarding from the Call Settings menu, then press . 1 1 2. Highlight an option from the Call Forwarding menu, then press to select. Refer to the options description below.
3. When prompted for confirmation, press (Yes). 4. When prompted, key-in the phone number where you want the calls to be forwarded, then press . OR Press (Names), select a phone book entry, then press twice. A Call Forwarding Unconditional Activated! message appears to indicate that you have enabled the feature. The screen returns to the Call Forwarding menu. 5. Press 3 (Back) to return to the Call Settings menu.
Fixed Dialing This menu allows you to activate or deactivate the fixed dialing feature. The SIM card stores the default status of the fixed dialing function. Activating fixed dialing To activate fixed dialing: 1. Select F i x e d D i a l i n g from the Call Settings menu, then press 3. Highlight O nn, then press . 4. Money Keeper The Money Keeper feature allows you to monitor and control your call costs by putting a time cap on all outgoing or incoming calls. Depending on your settings, Money Keeper either reminds you, ends the call, or do both when an outgoing or incoming call reaches the specified time. 1 Activating Money Keeper To activate Money Keeper: 2 1. Select Money Keeper from the Call Settings menu, then press . 2. Select Active Setting from the Money Keeper menu, then press . 3.
Setting the Money Keeper function To set the Money Keeper function: 1. Select Function Setting from the Money Keeper menu, then press . 2. Refer to Remind only The phone automatically sounds a beep when the current incoming/outgoing call reaches the specified time limit.
Setting the Money Keeper timer To set the Money Keeper timer: 1. Select Timer Setting from the Money Keeper menu, then press 1 . 2. Adjust the incoming timer by highlighting the time parts using the (left) or (right) button, then use the keypad to enter the new time. 3. When done, press (down) to move to the outgoing timer. 4. Call Summary Depending on your settings, a Call Summary screen appears after you end an incoming or outgoing call. The Call Summary displays the call duration and voice recording, if any. To display or hide the call summary screen: 1. Select Call Summary from the Call Settings menu, then press 2. Highlight O n (Display) or O f f (Hide), then press 3. Answering mode By default, you can answer all incoming calls by pressing the key. The Answering Mode menu allows you to customize the way you answer incoming calls. To customize your answering mode: 1 1. From the S e t t i n g s menu, use Answering Mode Mode, then press OR Press (up) or (down) to select . to display the Answering Mode menu. 2. Highlight an answering mode, then press to select. A check appears on the box preceding the selected option.
Accessory Devices This menu allows you to change the headset settings. To enable auto answer: 1. From the S e t t i n g s menu, use (up) or Accessory Devices Devices, then press . OR Press (down) to select 1 to display the Accessory Devices menu. 2. Highlight H e a d s e tt, then press . 3. Select Auto Answer from the Headset menu, then press . 4. Highlight O n to enable, or O f f to disable the auto answer feature, then press . 5. Press 2 (Back) to return to the H e a d s e t menu.
Transmit The phone is capable of transmitting data to and/or receiving data from a computer using the optional interface cable and installation CD. Make sure that you have installed the necessary drivers and applications before attempting to transmit or receive data to and from your computer. To transmit or receive data to and from your computer: 1. Connect one end of the interface cable to the I/O connector at the left side of the mobile phone. 2.
Network Selection To choose a network selection mode: 1. From the S e t t i n g s menu, (up) or Network Selection Selection, then press . Phonebook The Phonebook allows you to store, use, share, and manage contact information such as names, phone numbers, company and home addresses, e-mail address, etc. You can also add a voice recording and personalize the ringtone and LED settings for a particular contact using this menu. Phonebook options Options Quick Find Name Search Add Delete Copy Settings Storage Allows you to easily search for a contact in your phonebook by typing the initial letters of the contact name. easily search for a contact in your phonebook by typing the contact name.
Adding contact information The phone memory can store up to 300 phone book entries and supports a SIM card that can store up to 255 phone book entries. Adding a contact information to the SIM card To add a phone book entry to the SIM card: Because SIM card memory is limited, you can only save the name and one phone number of an entry. 1. From the Phonebook, press 2. Use (up) or (Option) to display a pop-up menu. (down) to select A d dd, then press . 3.
4. Press to key-in the contact name. 7. Use the keypad to key-in the phone number of the contact, then press . 5. Use the keypad to key-in the contact name, then press . 8. When finished, press (Save) to save the contact information. A Data saved! message appears indicating that you have saved the entry to the SIM memory. 6. Adding a contact information to the phone memory Aside from the contact name and phone number, you can add other information to a phone book entry when you save it to the phone memory. The phone memory can store up to four phone numbers, fax number, office name, home and e-mail addresses, birthdate, notes, and many more. You can also customize the contact group, melody, and LED settings or add a photo and voice tag for voice command recognition.
To add a phone book entry to the phone memory: 1. From the Phonebook, press (Option) to display a pop-up menu. 2. Use (up) or (down) to select A d dd, then press 5. Use the keypad to key-in the contact name, then press . . 3. When prompted, select To Handset from the pop-up menu at the bottom left corner of the screen, then press . An Add Record screen appears. 6. Press (down) to highlight the P h o n e N o 1 field, then press . 4. Press to key-in the contact name. 7.
8. Key-in other contact information including the home phone number, office phone number, other phone number, fax number, company, title, home address, e-mail address, birthday, remarks, and gender. Refer to the next sections when adding a photo and/or voice tag, or when classifying the phone book entry to a group. You are not required to fill in all the phone book entry information. You may add other information to the phone book entry later using the M o d i f y command. 9.
Adding a photo to a phone book entry • You can only add a photo to a phone book entry saved in the phone memory. • You must have the photo saved in the S u b W a l l p a p e r ( P o r t r a i t ) folder of the Image Gallery before you can attach to a phone book entry. To add a photo to a phone book entry: 1. Highlight the P i c t u r e field, then press to open the Image Gallery Gallery. 2. Select Sub Wallpaper (Portrait) (Portrait), then press 3. Use .
Adding a voice recording to a phone book entry • Voice recordings for phone book entries are used for voice dialing. Record the voice tag in a quiet environment to achieve accurate recordings. • Refer to Chapter 2 for details on using the voice dial feature. To add a voice tag to a phone book entry: 1. Highlight the V o i c e field, then press to open the Select Voice window. Voice, then press . 2. Select Record Voice 3. After the beep, use the microphone to say the name of the phone entry.
Searching phone book entries Using Quick Find To search a phone book entry using Quick Find: 2 1. From the Phonebook, press 2. Use (up) or (Option) to display a pop-up menu. (down) to select Quick Find Find, then press . 3. Use the keypad to type the first letter of the entry you are searching. The letter is displayed on top of the soft key bar. The screen dispays all phone book entries having the first letter you typed. 4.
Using Name Search To search a phone book entry using Name Search: 1. From the Phonebook, press 2. Use (up) or (Option) to display a pop-up menu. (down) to select Name Search Search, then press 3. Use the keypad to type the entry name, then press . 2 . 4. When there is a match, the screen dispays the phone book entry you searched. If no such entry was found, the Phonebook screen shows blank. 5. Press (Back) to return to the Phonebook Phonebook.
Managing phone book entries Viewing phone book entries To display the phone book entry information: 1. Select a phone book entry using (up) or (down), then press . The View Record screen appears. (up) or (down) to scroll and view additional phone book 2. Use entry information. 3. Press (Back) to return to the Phonebook Phonebook.
Displaying long entries The phone book has a scrolling feature that allows you to see a name entry even if it is longer than the screen width. To display a long phone book entry: 1. Select a phone book entry with a long name, then press record. to view the phone book entry 2. Notice that the name entry scrolls to the left until the last character is displayed. Modifying a phone book entry You can change or add a contact information to a phone book entry even after it has been saved to the phone memory. To modify a phone book entry: 1 1. View an entry following the instructions in the “Viewing phone book entries” section, then press (Options). 2. Select M o d i f y from the options, then press R e c o r d screen appears. . The M o d i f y (up) or (down) to select the phone book entry 3. Use information that you want to modify, then press . 4.
Deleting a phone book entry To delete a phone book entry: 142 1. From the Phonebook Phonebook, select the phone book entry you want to delete. 2. Press (Option), then select D e l e t e from the pop-up menu. 3. Select whether to delete only the selected phone book entry or all phone book entries, then press . 4. Press (Yes), when a confirmation window appears. A Deleted successfully! message appears indicating that the entry has been deleted from the phone book.
To delete a phone book entry from the V i e w R e c o r d window: 1. View an entry following the instructions in the section “ V i e w i n g phone book e n t r i e s ””, then press (Options). 3. Press (Yes) when a confirmation window appears. 2. Select D e l e t e from the menu, then press . The copied phone entries now appear in the phonebook.
Changing the phone book settings Customizing group settings You can customize the phone book group name, ring tone and LED color. To customize the group settings: 1. From the Phonebook Phonebook, press from the pop-up menu. 2. Use (up) or (Option), then select S e t t i n g s (down) to select G r ou oupp Se tt, then press 1 . Messaging features The phone is capable of creating, sending, and receiving both multimedia messaging service (MMS) or short message service (SMS) messages to and from other mobile phones. MMS allows you to send text messages with audio and image attachments to an MMS-enabled mobile phone or e-mail. SMS, on the other hand, allows you to send short text messages to any mobile phone. Ask your phone operator on how to activate the MMS feature. Only mobile phones with MMS feature can send/receive MMS messages.
Short Message Service (SMS) The phone allows you to compose and send Short Message Service (SMS) or text message to another mobile phone. Composing and sending an SMS message Launching the SMS message editor To launch the SMS message editor, use the (up) or (down) button to select E d i t S M S S, then press . The SMS message editor screen appears. Choosing the message recipient(s) To choose the recipient(s): 1.

Otherwise, select S a v e to store the message. A Sent successfully! message appears to indicate that the SMS message was sent to the recipients. 3. The phone prompts you to save the SMS message to the S M S O u t b o xx. Press (Yes) to save the message or (No) to cancel.
Saving the SMS message Save an SMS message to the SMS Outbox if you want to edit it or send it later. To save an SMS message: 1. Compose an SMS message following the instructions in the previous section. 2. In the Edit SMS window, press (Option), then select S a v ee. A Saved successfully successfully! message appears indicating that you have saved the SMS message to the SMS Outbox. The display returns to the E d i t S M S window.
Viewing an SMS message When the phone is in idle mode and you receive an SMS message, the screen displays an animated letter enevelope. Press (View) to open and view the message. Otherwise, press any other key to close the Received Message window. A new SMS message icon appears on the icon bar of the idle main display when you choose to ignore the new SMS message. If you receive an SMS message while in other phone modes, you can view the SMS messages by following this instructions. 1.
Managing the SMS Inbox The phone saves all SMS messages received in the SMS Inbox. You can view, reply, forward, or delete the messages stored in the SMS Inbox. Take note of the following icons preceding a message.
Managing the SMS Outbox The SMS Outbox contains all saved and draft messages. You can view, send, or delete the messages stored in the SMS Outbox. Take note of the following icons preceding messages in the SMS Outbox.
Changing the SMS message settings To access the S M S S e t t i n g s menu: From the S M S menu, use S e t t i n g ss, then press . (up) or (down) to select S M S OR Press to display the SMS Settings menu. The SMS Settings menu consists of seven menu options that you can (up) or (down). select using Refer to the table below for a brief description of each menu item.
Changing the service center number Obtain the correct service center number from your phone operator before you change this item. 1 To change the SMS service center number: 1. Changing the SMS validity period The SMS validity period is the time period that you allow the phone operator to send your SMS message until it reaches the recipients. For example, if you sent an SMS message to a mobile phone that is not in the coverage area, the phoe operator continuously sends the SMS message to that mobile phone within the duration you specified. To select a message format: 1 1. Highlight V a l i d i t y P e r i o d from the SMS Settings menu, then press .
Creating common message(s) For your convenience, you can create and store Common Messages in your phone. You can easily retrieve these messages when you want to send a quick note. 1 You can create up to eight can messages, each with a maximum of 26 characters. To create a common message: 1. Highlight Common Words from the SMS Settings menu, then press . (up) or (down) to highlight an ( E M P T Y ) common 2. Use message, then press (Option). 3. Select E d i t from the pop-up menu, then press . 4.
Activating delivery reports If you wish to know that the messages you sent are delivered to the recipient, enable the Delivery Rpt. option. To activate delivery report: 1 1. Activating the reply path Activating the reply path allows the SMS message recipient to reply to your SMS message, using the embedded service center number. To activate the reply path: 1. Highlight Reply Path from the SMS Settings menu, then press . (up) or (down) to highlight O nn, 2. To enable the feature, use then press . (up) or (down) to highlight O f ff, then To disable, use press . 3. When finished, press (Back) to return to the SMS Settings menu.
Auto moving SMS messages to the handset Activating the Auto Move to Handset feature allows you to transfer all incoming SMS messages from the SIM card to the handset automatically. To activate this feature: 1 1. Highlight Auto Move to Handset from the SMS Settings menu, then press . (up) or (down) to highlight 2. To enable the feature, use O nn, then press . (up) or (down) to highlight O f ff, then To disable, use press . 3. When finished, press (Back) to return to the S M S S e t t i n g s menu.
Viewing the SMS memory status To view the phone and SIM SMS memory status: From the S M S menu, use M e m o r yy, then press . (up) or (down) to select S M S OR Press to display the SMS Memory Memory. The screen shows the used SMS memory over the total available memory in both the handset and SIM card. Press (Back) to return to the S M S menu.
Changing the cell broadcast settings The cell broadcast feature allows your phone to receive cell broadcast messages. In cell broadcasting, users can set a topic and language for receiving a specific cell broadcast channel. To open the cell broadcast menu: From the S M S menu, use Broadcast Broadcast, then press . (up) or (down) to select C e l l OR Press to display the Cell Broadcast menu. To activate or change the SMS cell broadcast settings: 1 1.
Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) Multimedia Messaging Service or MMS allows you to send text, image, and audio files to an MMS-enabled mobile phone or e-mail. A typical MMS message is compose of one or many slides. Each slide contains a combination of text, image, or audio file. Inquire the availability of this feature from your phone operator. Composing an MMS message Launching the MMS message editor 1. From the S M S menu, press (MMS) to switch to MMS.

Use (up) or (down) to select avoice recording, then press . When you select V o i c ee, a list of voice recordings appear on screen.
To replace, delete, or time the duration of the audio file: 2 1. In the C o m p o s e r window, select the audio file, then press . The S e l e c t window appears. 2. Press (Option), select Send from the pop-up menu, then press . The MMS message is uploaded to the MMS server of your phone operator for sending to the message recipients. Activating the Read Report function The Read Report function notifies you everytime the phone receives an MMS message. To activate the read report function: 1 1. Auto downloading MMS messages Auto download allows the phone to immediately download from the phone operator MMS server all MMS messages received. To activate the auto download function: 1. Camera The phone comes with a built-in 300K pixel camera and flash that allows you to capture, edit, and share photos and videos. The following sections tell how to use the camera and its features. Turning the flash on or off To turn the flash on or off: 1. Use (up) or (down) to highlight Flash Switch from the camera settings menu. 2. Press (left) or (right) to turn the flash on or off. When you select the check mark , the flash is turned on and the flash icon on the capture display shows . When you selected , the flash is turned off and the flash icon on the capture display shows . When in camera mode, you can turn the flash on or off by pressing .
Viewing your photos You can view all saved photos in the M y A l b u m folder. To open the M y A l b u m folder from the Camera menu: Go to the Camera menu, select M y A l b u m from the menu, then press . OR In the C a m e r a menu, press to open M y A l b u m m. To open the M y A l b u m folder from the capture display: When in the capture display, press then press . (Option), select My Album, The phone remains in camera mode when you access the M y A l b u m folder from the capture display.
Using the photo options The photo options allow you to save, hide, delete, rename, edit, send, and slideshow the photos saved in the M y A l b u m folder. To access the photo options: 1. From M y A l b u m m, press menu. (Option) to display the photo options 2. Use (up) or (down) to select an option, then press to the table below for a description of each option. Editing your photos You can add special effects, frame design, and texts to photos saved in M y A l b u m using the Edit Image function in the photo options menu. You can also use this function to rotate or flip the images. 1 To edit a photo: 1. From M y A l b u m m, Use (up) or (down) to select the photo you want to edit, then press to display the photo in full screen. 2. Press (Option), then select Edit Image from the photo options menu. 3. Press (Option) to display the photo editing menu. 4.
Adding preview effects to your photo You can add a preview effect to your subject before capturing the photo. The phone comes with six pre-installed preview effects that you can apply to your photos. To add an effect to your photo: 1. Put the Camera in C a p t u r e mode. 2. Point the camera to your subject. Make sure your subject fits in the capture display. 3. Press (Option), then highlight Preview Effects from the menu. 4. Press (left) or (right) to select the preview effect, then press .
Adding frames to your photo You can add a frame design to your photos using any of the 20 pre-installed frames. To add a frame to your photo: 1. Put the Camera in C a p t u r e mode. 2. Point the camera to your subject. Make sure your subject fits in the capture display. 3. Press (Option), then highlight F r a m e from the menu. The photo size automatically changes to main wallpaper when you select F r a m ee. You cannot change the photo size when you add a frame to a photo. 4.
Using the external display for self-capture You can use the external display to do a self-capture. To use the self-capture feature: 1. Put the Camera in C a p t u r e mode. 2. Press press (Option), highlight Self Capture from the menu, then . The main display shows a camera on the background. OR Press the to enable self-capture. 3. Point the camera to yourself, then use the external display as the capture reference. 4. Press the capture button on the side of the phone.
Using the capture timer You can use the capture timer to capture a photo without pressing the key or button. • Determine the best location for the phone before using this feature. Try pointing the camera on your subject in different angles and locations for best results. • The multi-capture feature automatically turns-off when you select capture timer. Setting the capture timer To set the capture timer: 1. Put the Camera in C a p t u r e mode. 2. Press (Option), highlight Capture Timer from the menu.

After selecting the capture timer, place the phone on a stable surface making sure that the camera points correctly to the subject. 2. Press . Using multi-capture The multi-capture feature allows you to capture multiple photos in specific time intervals. Use multi-capture when capturing sequential or motion photos. To use multi-capture: 1. Set the multi-capture interval following the instructions on the “Setting the multi-capture interval” section. 2. Put the Camera in C a p t u r e mode. (Option), highlight Multi-Capture from the menu. 3. Press 4. Press (left) or button to select the number of photos you want to capture.
Viewing multi-capture photos To view the multi-captured photos: 1. Open the M y A l b u m folder. (up) or (down) to locate the sequential photos 2. Use (i.e. PIC1007011.1, PIC1007011.2, etc). The phone automatically saves an extra photo file containing a thumbnail of each photo. The phone saves this file in the M y A l b u m folder together with the other four, six, nine, or 16 source photos. 3. Select a photo, then press 4. Press to display. (Back) to return to M y A l b u m m.
AVI Recorder The AVI Recorder allows you to capture short video files using the phone camera. The video files are saved in .AVI format and are stored in the M y V i d e o s folder. To access the A V I R e c o r d e rr: 1. From the C a m e r a menu, use (up) or R e c o r d e rr, then press . OR Press to display the M e s s a g e menu. Recorder mode display Familiarize yourself with the capture display before using the AVI recorder.
Capturing videos DO NOT use the recorder in places where video capture is prohibited. Take note of local regulations before using the recorder. To capture a video: 1. Put the Camera in AVI Recorder mode. 2. Point the camera to your subject. Make sure your subject fits in the capture display. 3. Hold the phone firmly, then press to start the video capture. 4. This menu allows you to play Java games in your mobile phone, change the ring tone settings, or browse your captured photos and videos. To access the F u n menu: 1. Java Games The Java Games menu lets you play Java games on your mobile phone. Turning off an alarm To turn-off an alarm: 1. In the A l a r m menu, use (up) or (down) to highlight the alarm you wish to turn off, then press to uncheck the box preceding the alarm. 2. Press 248 (Back) to return to the Organizer menu.
World Clock The World Clock lets you know the time in other countries and cities. This menu also allows you to set the local time, or view the time in other parts of the world with the local time as reference. To open the W o r l d C l o c k screen: From the Organizer menu, use World Clock Clock, then press . (up) or (down) to select OR Press to display the World Clock screen.
Changing the local time To change the local time using the time line: 1. Press (left) or (right) to move the local time line across the world map until it is over the desired location. 2. The selected location and time information are shown below the world map. Press to change the local time. 3. When prompted, press (Yes) to confirm the local time change. A message appears on screen telling you that the local time has been changed. The display returns to the World Clock screen.
Viewing other locations If you cannot locate your city or country using the time line, you can view other locations using the World Clock options. To do this: 1 1. In the World Clock screen, press from the pop-up menu, then press countries appears. (Option), select V i e w A l l . A list of all available cities and 2. To specify your search, tap (Option), select the continent of location, then press . A list of all available cities and countries in the selected continent is displayed. 3.

In the Text Memo screen, use blank text memo, then press .

Voice Memo The Voice Memo feature allows you to record short memos, notices, or reminders using voice recorder. Creating a voice memo To create a voice memo: 1. In the Voice Memo screen, use (up) or an (EMPTY) voice memo, then press . Listening to a voice memo To listen to a voice memo: 1. In the Voice Memo screen, use (up) or (down) to highlight the voice memo you want to listen to, then press OR . (Option), select P l a y from the menu, then press . Press 2. The voice memo is played. Press (Speaker) to listen to the voice memo using the phone speaker. 3. Press (Back) to return to the Voice Memo screen.
Sending a voice memo using MMS To send a voice memo using MMS: 1. In the Voice Memo (up) screen, use (down) to or highlight the voice memo you want to send. 2. Press (Option), select S e n d M M S from the menu, then press . 3. The E d i t M M S screen appears. Refer to the instructions in Chapter 6 “Messaging features” for details on sending MMS messages.

Memory Status This menu allows you to view the phone book, SMS, calendar, ring tone, and shared memory information. To open the V o i c e M e m o o: From the Organizer menu, use Voice Memo Memo, then press . (up) or (down) to select OR Press to display the Voice Memo screen. Recording a voice for name dialing To record a voice for name dialing: 1.
2. Highlight an (EMPTY) recording, then press (Option). 3. Select Record Voice from the pop-up menu, then press . 4. An I n f o window appears prompting you to say the name of the person you want to add in voice dial list. 2 5. After the beep, use the speaker to say the name of the person. 6. When prompted, repeat saying the name of the person until the phone recognizes and processes your recording. 7. Stopwatch The Stopwatch allows you to record time in split and lap modes. To open the S t o p w a t c h h: From the Organizer menu, use Stopwatch Stopwatch, then press . (up) or (down) to select OR Press to display the Stopwatch screen. You can switch the stopwatch from s p l i t to l a p mode or vice versa by (up) or (down). pressing Lap mode Split mode Lap stopwatch is commonly used for timing races and other sports that are divided into laps, such as car racing.
Using the split stopwatch To use the split stopwatch: 1 1. In the Stopwatch screen, select the split stopwatch mode by (up) or (down). pressing 2. Press to start the stopwatch. 3. Press (Mark) to mark a specific time. The marked time is displayed at the bottom of the screen. You can create a maximum eight marks for a given time. Using the lap stopwatch 1 To use the lap stopwatch: 1. In the Stopwatch screen, select the lap stopwatch mode by (up) or (down). pressing 2. Press to start the stopwatch. 3. Missed Calls The Missed Calls list allows you to view, save, or delete missed call numbers received by your phone. Call Filter The Call Filter menu allows you to filter incoming calls by activating the I g n o r e or Privilege list. Network The N e t w o r k menu allows you to configure the network settings of the mobile phone and surf the Internet. Opening the Network menu To open the N e t w o r k menu: 1. Put the phone in idle mode, then press to display the main menu. 2. Use the navigation keys to select the N e t w o r k icon press to display the N e t w o r k menu. OR Press to display the N e t w o r k menu.
WAP The W A P (Wireless Application Protocol) allows you to configure the phone WAP configuration, browse the Internet, create URL bookmarks, and activate the network WAP profiles. To open the W A P menu: From the N e t w o r k menu, use then press . (up) or (down) to select W A PP, OR Press to display the Answered Calls list. Based on your subscription, the phone should come with the default WAP configuration set by your operator. The following instructions are for reference only.
Changing your WAP settings You may need to change some WAP and network settings before you can use the Internet features of your mobile phone. Activating an Internet profile You need to activate your phone’s Internet profile before you can establish connection to the Internet. You can store up to ten (10) Internet profiles on your phone. To select and activate an Internet profile: 1 1. From the W A P menu, use (up) or (down) to select P r o f i l e ss, then press .
Modifying an Internet profile To modify an Internet profile: 1. After activating a profile, press press . (Options), select M o d i f yy, then 2. Changing WAP settings The WAP settings menu allows you to manage the Internet browser settings including cache use, cookies, passwords, text wrap, and security configuration. To change the WAP settings: 1. From the W A P menu, use (up) or (down) to select S e t t i n g ss, then press . The S e t t i n g s screen appears. 2. Use (up) or (down) to select a WAP setting, then press Refer to the WAP settings description below.
Surfing the Internet After adjusting or changing the necessary Internet settings, you are now ready to surf the Internet on your phone. Browsing the homepage To go to the homepage: 1. From the W A P menu, use (up) or (down) to select H o m e p a g ee, then press . The phone connects to the phone operator’s WAP server. When connection is established, the Homepage appears on screen.
2. When necessary, press (Options) to view the browser options. Refer to the table below for a description of the browser options.
Browsing another website To browse another website: 1. From the W A P menu, use (up) or (down) to select G o T o U R LL, then press . 2. Key-in the URL (Universal Resource Locator) address of the website you want to browse, then press . The website appears on screen, when available. 3. STK (Sim Tool Kit) The S T K list allows you to view and use value-added services offered by your phone operator. To open the S T K list: From the N e t w o r k menu, use then press . (up) or (down) to select S T K K, OR Press to display the S T K list. • The contents of this menu are SIM-dependent and varies from one phone operator to another. Inquire with your phone operator the complete list of services that they offer.

RF Exposure Information (SAR) This model phone meets the government’s requirements for exposure to radio waves. This phone is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications Commission of the U.S. Government. The exposure standard for wireless mobile phones employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6W/kg.
