If no data is lled in option 61, the hardware MAC address will
be lled by default.
• IAID/DUID: DUID (DHCP Unique Identier, DHCP Unique
Identier) is a Unique Identier. In DHCPv4, the xed IP rule
is set by your ISP in accordance with the DHCP clients, and
can be the same as the client’s MAC address as identication
number. In DHCPv6, it uses the DUID as identier instead of
using MAC address. Each client device has only one DUID, if
a single client network interface needs to be distinguished
as multiple interfaces by IAID (Identity Association Identier),
each interface must have dierent IAID.
Special Requirement from ISP
• MAC Address: MAC (Media Access Control) address is a
unique identier for your networking device. Some ISPs
monitor the MAC address of networking devices that connect
to their service and reject any unrecognized device that
attempt to connect. To avoid connection issues due to an
unregistered MAC address, you can:
• Contact your ISP and update the MAC address associated
with your ISP service.
• Clone or change the MAC address of the ASUS wireless
router to match the MAC address of the previous
networking device recognized by the ISP.
