This feature applies only to physical drives assigned to disk arrays.
Caution
Forcing a physical drive ofine is likely to cause data loss. Back up your data be-
fore you proceed. Use this function only when required.
Important
Forcingaphysicaldriveofinecausesyourlogicaldrivestobecomedegraded.IfAuto
Rebuildisenabledandasparedriveisavailable,thediskarraybeginsrebuildingitself
automatically.
Toforceaphysicaldriveofine:
1. Click the Device tab.
2. Click the Physical Drive icon.
3. Click the down arrow button to list the physical drives in the enclosure.
4. Mouseoverthephysicaldriveyouwanttoforceofine.
5. Click the Force Ofine button.
6. In the Conrmationbox,typetheword“conrm”intheeldprovidedandclicktheConrm button.
clearInG a Stale or a Pfa conDItIon
Thisprocedureisusedtoclearcongurationdataonaphysicaldrive;orifthephysicaldriveisstaleorthehas
errors putting it in PFA status.
Stale – The physical drive contains obsolete disk array information.
PFA – The physical drive has errors resulting in a prediction of failure.
Besureyouhavecorrectedtheconditionbyaphysicaldrivereplacement,rebuildoperation,etc.,rst.Then
clear the condition.
To clear a Stale or a PFA condition:
1. Click the Device tab.
2. Click the Physical Drive icon.
3. Clickthephysicaldriveyouwant,thenclicktheClear button.
IfthephysicaldrivehasbothaStaleconditionandaPFAcondition,therstclickremovestheStale
condition. Click the Clear button a second time to remove the PFA condition.

IfyouhavephysicaldrivesinyourRAIDsystem thatarenotASUSStorage-supported,followthermware
update procedure from the drive manufacturer.
