Getting to know ADAM ADAM allows you to easily configure administrative settings of your ASUS ADAM powered devices. NOTE: The screenshots in this manual are for reference only. Actual screenshots may vary. Getting started You will need a login account to use ADAM, register with ASUS to obtain a login account. NOTE: You will need to activate your device through the ADAM Web Console before ADAM can be used. Please refer to the Activating your device section for more information. To use ADAM: 1.
2. Enter your username and password. 3. Click Login to complete. NOTE: 6 • Ensure to activate the device on the ADAM Web Console. If your device is not activated yet, a pop-up message will appear. Please refer to the Activating your device section for more information. • ADAM will automatically detect your device’s language settings and use that language as a default if it is supported. • You can also access ADAM by selecting MDM Admin on the power options menu.
Activating your device You will need to activate your device through the ADAM Web Console before you can login to the ADAM client. To activate your device: 1. Connect to the Internet, then open your internet bowser and go to https://adam.asus.com/asus/en/login 2. Enter your username and password. 3. Click Log in to enter the administration console. 4. Click Device list to display the list of devices.
5. Click the device that you would like to activate. NOTE: 6. • A device not in an activated state will have a blue background. • The list is limited to display 100 devices per page. Click MORE on the bottom right of the page to display more devices, or click Show all to display all the devices. Click Activate to activate the device. NOTE: Any provisioning commands and deactivation commands will be issued when the device connects with the server.
ADAM power options menu You can also access ADAM by selecting MDM Admin on the power options menu. NOTE: Press and hold the power button for the power options menu. To enable the MDM Admin option: 1. Navigate to Settings > About tablet. 2. Locate the Model number, then tap the Model number seven (7) times to enable the MDM Admin option. NOTE: • Tap the Model number seven (7) times again to disable the MDM Admin option. • The MDM Admin option will be force-enabled when your device enters kiosk mode.
ADAM main page The main page will appear after you login to ADAM. Tick all the items Export item checkbox Tap here for the menu tab Item name and settings NOTE: Swipe up to view more items.
ADAM device settings To change the ADAM settings of the device, simply tap on the item to open a pop-up menu, or turn the switch ON or OFF. USB USB disk - Enable or disable the device to read external USB device. NOTE: Ensure to disconnect and reconnect the external USB device after re-enabling this option. USB computer connection - Enable or disable the device to be readable when connected to computers. USB debugging - Enable or disable access to USB debugging.
SYSTEM Developer option - Enable or disable access to Developer options. FOTA - Set device updates through FOTA to Enable, Disable or Auto. Default - If a new update is available, the system will send a notification to the user. Users can also check for updates manually under Settings > About tablet > System update. Auto - If a new update is available, the device will automatically update and reboot. Disable - The system will not check for new updates, and the user cannot manually check for new updates.
Auto boot option (on selected models) - Enable or disable the device to boot up automatically when a charger is plugged in. Loudspeaker option (on selected models) - Enable or disable the loudspeaker when an audio jack is plugged in. SCREEN LOCK Screen lock - Enable or disable screen lock settings. Screen lock types - Set screen lock type to All, or None and Swipe only. WIFI Wi-Fi state - Set Wi-Fi to Default, Always on and cannot be modified, or Always off and cannot be modified.
SYSTEM BAR System bar - Set navigation bar to visible or not, navigation bar to be pullable or not, status bar to visible or not. Back key - Enable or disable the Back key. Home key - Enable or disable the Home key. Recent app key - Enable or disable the Recent app key. Status bar pull-able - Enable or disable the status bar to be pullable.
APPLICATION LIST Tap OK to apply the application list settings, or tap Reset to set the application list to its default settings. Visibility options - Use the visibility file to import visible or invisible application list. Visibility file - Select a visibility file to import. Please refer to the Creating visibility file and Importing visibility file section for more information. NOTE: Ensure to tap OK on the main page to apply the settings.
WALLPAPER Select a wallpaper, then Tap OK to set the wallpaper. BOOT ANIMATION Select a boot animation, then Tap OK to set the boot animation. Tap Reset to set the boot animation to its default animation. Please refer to the Creating boot animation section for more information.
ADAM menu tab Tap the icon on the top-right corner for the menu tab. Tap here for the menu tab Export configuration - Export configuration for the checked items. Please refer to the Exporting configuration section for more information. Download ADAM white list configuration file - Download APP white list from the ADAM server. The ADAM white list will tell the device which applications are allowed to make use of the ADAM privileged API.
Exporting configuration You can export the configurations of the checked items as a configuration file to install it onto other devices, or send it to the ADAM Web Console. To export the configuration file: 1. Tick the checkbox of the items you would like to export. 2. Tap the 3. Tap Export configuration to export the configuration file. icon on the top-right corner for the menu tab. NOTE: 18 • You can tick the checkbox on the top left corner to tick all the items at once.
Importing configuration You can import configuration files from another device and install it to this device. To import the configuration file: 1. Placed a correct Configuration.data file under /sdcard/. 2. Navigate to the ADAM login screen on your device. 3. Tap Import to import the configuration file. NOTE: Check the format of the Configuration.data file and the directory it is placed under if an error occurs.
Creating visibility file You can create a list of applications and import it to your device to display those APPs as visible or as invisible. To create a visibility file: 1. Create a .txt file. 2. Open the .txt file with a text editor. 3. Type the package name of the applications you would like to add to the visibility file. An example for adding Youtube and Google Maps: com.google.android.youtube com.google.android.apps.maps NOTE: Each row may only contain one package name. 4. Save the .
Creating access control list You can create a list of websites and import it to your device to allow or limit access to those websites using the default browser. To create an access control list: 1. Create a .txt file. 2. Open the .txt file with a text editor. 3. Type the following into the text file: NOTE: 4.
Importing access control list To import an access control list, navigate to the ADAM main page and tap Native browser access control list. Creating boot animation You can create your own custom boot animation to give your device a different look. To create a boot animation: 1. Create a main directory named bootanimation. 2. Create a sub-directory named part0, then add .png files into the sub-directory to create a scene.
