Power/System LED Green LED: Off: The system is powered off or fails. On: The system is powered on. Flashing: The system is booting up. Port LEDs (Left) (Port 1-5) LINK/ACT LED: Off: The port is disconnected or the link fails. Green On: Has physical connection to 1000M network. Amber On: Has physical connection to 10M/100M network.
2 Placement Follow the guidelines to install the switch securely: 1. Place the switch on a level and stable surface, such as a desktop, to prevent it from falling. 2. To prevent the switch from overheating, do not operate it in an area where the ambient temperature exceeds 104°F (40°C). 3. Ensure that there is sufficient air flow around the switch. 4. Ensure that the location of the switch can support the weight of the switch and its accessories. 5.
3 Getting started 3.1 Switch setup This section provides an introduction to the web-based configuration utility, including: • Powering on your device • Connecting to the network • Powering over Ethernet (PoE) considerations 3.1.1 Powering on your device The switch is powered by the internal high performance DC 100240 V 50/60Hz power supply.
3.1.2 Connecting to the network To connect the switch to the network: 1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of a computer. 2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to one of the numbered Ethernet ports of the switch. The LED of the port will light up to indicate an active connection. NOTE: For safety purpose, please connect your computer to the console port (Port 4) of the switch only. 3. Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 for each device to connect to the switch.
3.1.3 Power over Ethernet (PoE) considerations For a PoE switch model, consider the following information: As a Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) device, the switch can support up to 30 Watts per PoE port on ports 1 to 4 and 30 Watts per port on other port to a Powered Device (PD). Model Power Dedicated to PoE PoE ports PoE Standard Supported EBP15 60W 1 to 4 IEEE802.3at/af When connecting switches capable of supplying PoE, consider the following information: • Switch models with PoE function are PSEs.
3.2 Logging into the Web GUI for the first time This section describes how to log in and navigate the web-based switch configuration utility. To log into the web GUI: 1. On your web browser, key in the device’s default IP address 192.168.1.50 in the address bar and press Enter. NOTE: Network connection is available only on the console port (Port 4). 2. Set up a username and password. It’s recommended that you create a strong password.
3. Browse ASUS privacy notice, tick I Acknowledge That I Have Read And Understood The Policy and click Apply. Wait for the system to complete the configuration.
4. On the login page, enter the username and password you set up earlier. NOTE: If you enter an incorrect username or password, you’ll see an error prompt and the login page will remain the same. 5. You can now use the Web GUI to configure various settings on your EBP15.
