3.17.4 Virtual Server/Port Forwarding
Virtual Server / Port forwarding allows remote computers
to connect to a specic computer or service within a private
local area network (LAN). For a faster connection, some P2P
applications (such as BitTorrent) may also require that you set
the port forwarding setting. Please refer to the P2P application’s
user manual for details. You can enable multiple ports or a range
of ports in the router and redirect data through those ports to a
single client on your network.
If you want to specify a Port Range for clients on the same
network, enter the Service Name, the Port Range (e.g.
10200:10300), the LAN IP address, and leave the Local Port blank.
NOTE: When port forwarding is enabled, the ASUS router blocks
unsolicited inbound trac from the Internet and only allows replies
from outbound requests from the LAN. The network client does not
have access to the Internet directly, and vice versa.
To set up Port Forwarding:
1. From the navigation panel, go to Settings > WAN > Virtual
Server / Port Forwarding.
2. Slide the bar to ON to enable Port Forwarding, then click Add
Prole. After conguring the following settings, click OK.
