Contents Scramble System (CSS) Regions
The world is divided, for CSS purposes, into six regions. A CSS-encoded disc may be
encoded for one or more of the regions, but your player or hardware must be identi-
fied as one region only. A player or hardware may only play discs that are encoded for
that player’s region. [See WARNING! on the opposite page]
CSS Regions
Region 1: The U.S., its territories and Canada
Region 2: Europe, Japan, the Middle East, Egypt, South Africa, Greenland
Region 3: Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia
Region 4: Mexico, South America, Australia, New Zealand
Region 5: Russia, Eastern Europe, India, most of Africa
Region 6: China
