Die Intention
Die Bereitstellung und Verteilung breitbandiger Internetzugänge
erfordert neue Ideen für alternative Zugangstechnologie.
Kostengünstige Alternativen zur Überbrückung von Lücken in
der Netz-Zugans-technik sowie der Verbindung der hausinter-
nen Installation sind gefordert.
Unter dem Gesichtspunkt niedriger Hardwarekosten und gerin-
gem Installations- und Wartungsaufwand sollen Anschlüsse für
Multimedia-Anwendungen und Telefonie zur Verfügung stehen.
Die Idee
In ca. 95% der deutschen Haushalte sind TV-Geräte mit ent-
sprechendem meist unidirektionalen Netzanschluss vorhanden.
Für Hotels mit bereits “einem Stern” gehört ein TV-Anschluss zur
Mindestausstattung, in Krankenhäusern sind TV-Geräte in den
jeweiligen Zimmern installiert. Mehrfamilienhäuser sind mit
einem ausgebauten TV-Verteilnetz ausgestattet.
Warum nicht diese vorhandene TV-Infrastruktur für die breit-
bandige Verteilung von Daten- und Sprachdiensten nutzen?
Anforderungen an CATV-Netz

Our Intention
The providing and distribution of broadband internet connections
require new ideas for alternative access technologies.
Reasonable alternatives for the bridging of gaps in the network
access technologies as well as the combining of in-house instal-
lations are required.
Considering the aspect of low hardware costs and little installa-
tion and maintaining work, connections for multimedia applicati-
ons and telephony have to be available.
The idea
95% of the households are equipped with a mostly unidirectional
connected TV set.
For hotels, a TV connection is the minimum requirement to get
one “star”, and in hospitals TV sets are installed in each room.
Apartment buildings are equipped with a TV distribution network.
Why not using this already existing infrastructure for the
broadband distribution of data and voice services?
Requirements to the CATV network:
 possible CATV network structure: star and tree topology
 frequency range 4 – 34 MHz not used
 passive forward and return path
(bypass of active components using Coax repeater
or diplexer)
