Microsoft I CS Mode Overview
MS I CS (Microsoft I nternet Connection Sharing) mode provides wireless AP connectivity to
SoftGate clients and I nternet Connection Sharing to an existing LAN through the SoftGate
hosts LAN adapter. When SoftGate is configured in MS I CS mode, SoftGate clients are
leased I P addresses using DHCP services from the SoftGate host. The range of I P addresses
assigned to clients in this mode are 192.168.0.0-255.
A typical scenario for configuring SoftGate in I CS mode is when the SoftGate host computer
is leased a single I P address from an I SP and multiple computers need to share a single
network connection through the I SP. The SoftGate host will provide wireless AP functionality,
DHCP service, and NAT services to SoftGate clients in such an environment.
