Configuring Gigaset PC Card 108
Channel
The Channel field shows the radio channel used to set up communication with the con-
nection partners.You can choose from radio channels 1-11.
In Infrastructure mode, the radio channel is set by the Access Point for all WLAN partic-
ipants and can only be changed there. In this case, the Channel field shows the channel
being used.
In Ad Hoc mode, you set the network adapter channel manually.
ì Select the channel used by the desired connection partners in the ad-hoc network.
Power saving
The Gigaset PC Card 108 can be used in power saving mode. Your PC remains reachable
on the network, but the network adapter's energy consumption is reduced to a mini-
mum.
ì Select Enabled to use the network adapter in power saving mode.
Transmission mode
The Gigaset PC Card 108 is designed to operate according to various WLAN standards.
You can select the transmission mode in Infrastructure mode:
In Ad Hoc mode you can perform the following settings:
ì Select 802.11g if the network environment uses this WLAN standard.
The maximum transmission rate possible is 54 Mbps.
Or
ì Select 802.11b if the network environment uses this WLAN standard.
The maximum transmission rate possible is limited to 11 Mbps.
Or
ì Select Mixed Mode if the network environment uses both modes. Some of the net-
work adapters use Standard 802.11g, others Standard 802.11b.
The maximum transmission rate possible depends on the WLAN standard of the con-
nection partner in question.
Or
ì Select Super G, to double the transmission rate. This mode is based on 802.11g
mode and enables a maximum transmission rate of 108 Mbps thanks to channel
bundling.
The default setting is Super G.
