6. Contacts
6. Contacts
Contacts can be found in both a local and a central phonebook on the handset.
The local phonebook contains contacts added by you, and is unique for each handset.
The central phonebook is a list of contacts stored remotely on the system, and is shared
by all handsets. You cannot add, edit or remove, contacts from the central phonebook.
Both phonebooks can be accessed from the Contacts app, or from the Phone app. This
chapter describes how to find, or add, contacts through the Contacts app. For instructions on
how to use the Phone app to search for contacts, refer to 5.2 Make a Call on page 30.

6.1 Look up a Contact in the Central Phonebook
NOTE: If login is enabled on the handset, you must be logged in to access the Central
phonebook, refer to 4.12 Log In, or Log Out on page 23.
1 In the App view, tap Contacts .
2 Tap CPB in the upper, right part of the screen to open the central phonebook.
3 Type a name in the First Name, or the Last Name field.
4 Tap on the keyboard to search the central phonebook.
5 A list of contacts is shown below the search fields. Tap a contact to Call, send a Text
message, or Add contact to the local phonebook. Tap Cancel, or the back button, to
return to the search result list.
6.2 Look up a Contact in the Local Phonebook
1 In the App view, tap Contacts .
2 Tap All Contacts in the upper part of the screen to open the local phonebook. All
contacts stored in the local phonebook are shown as a list.
3 Tap a contact to open the contact card. Calls can be placed, or messages can be sent,
from the contact card.
Search the Local Phonebook
Use the search functionality to search for contacts in the local phonebook:
1 Tap in the lower part of the screen.
2 Start writing a name, or a number, to search for. Contacts containing that name, or
number, appear below the search field.
3 Tap a contact to open the contact card. Calls can be placed, or messages can be sent,
from the contact card.
