Access rights classes
Access Rights Identities (ARIs) are divided into the following Access Rights Classes (ARCs):
Class A: residential and private single cell and small multiple cell cordless systems.
Class B: private multiple cell cordless systems.
Class C: public single and multiple cell cordless systems.
Class D: public DECT access to a GSM operator network.
Class E: fixed part to portable part communication (private).
Access rights details
Access Rights Details is a unique number for each service provider. Its structure depends on the
access rights class. It can consist of a combination of codes, for instance, an EIC (Equipment Installer’s
Code), an Equipment Manufacturer’s Code (EMC). An ARI is coupled to a certain system.
The EIC (Equipment Installer’s Code) code is used to identify uniquely a system of each manufacturer
or user. Each system is supplied with this code. The code is allocated by ETSI to each manufacturer.
Large manufacturers could have more than one EIC allocated. The same can also apply for users,
i.e. big companies can have their own EIC codes to be used at their different sites.
The EMC (Equipment Manufacturer Code) code is allocated by ETSI to each manufacturer. Large
manufacturers can have more than one EMC allocated.
6.8 Equipment related identities
These identities are used to identify the portable part equipment, and are called International Portable
part Equipment Identities (IPEIs). They are globally unique and are embedded into the portable parts
during the manufacturing process. The IPEI can be requested by a fixed part to check for stolen
equipment.
The IPEI consists of:
EMC (Equipment Manufacturer Code). It is allocated to each manufacturer by ETSI. Upper limit
of EMC is 65535. Large manufacturers can have more than one EMC allocated.
PSN (Portable equipment Serial Number). It is allocated by the manufacturer as a unique number
for each EMC and it has an upper limit of over 1 million codes.
