This security service allows a portable part to request a fixed part to authenticate before it can change

information in the portable part. Besides, the user of a portable part must have the right to choose

from different service providers, for instance, operators.

Encryption activation portable part initiated

The activation of the encryption process initiated by portable part. The start of encryption is done in

the MAC layer and is always initiated by the portable part.

To prevent eavesdropping the information on the air interface between fixed part and portable part is

encrypted using the DECT standard cipher algorithm.

Encryption deactivation fixed part initiated

Stopping of encryption is done in the MAC layer and is always initiated by the portable part.

Encryption deactivation portable part initiated

The deactivation of the encryption process initiated by portable part. Stopping of encryption is done

in the MAC layer and is always initiated by the portable part.

Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP)

The ability to provide the calling party (A) number to the call receiving party (B) before accepting the

call (see figure

32).

Internal call

A call between 2 users that does not make use of the local network resources. This is typically useful

in residential environments.

Service call

A call initiated by a DECT portable part for entering of fixed part related service and adjustment

procedures in a transparent way. After having sent the service call indication, the portable part behaves

according to the rules of a normal call.

6.7 Access rights

Access rights is a DECT feature by which the same portable part can have access to different fixed

part environments like:

• Residential and private PBX, single and small multiple cell systems

• Private PBX multiple cell

• Public single and multiple cell systems

• Public DECT access to a GSM operator network
