rights, fixed part initiated’. As these commands affects subscription data held in the portable part, the
portable part the right to authenticate the fixed part by means of the network feature ‘Authentication
of fixed part’. Only if the result is positive the ZAP command will be executed.
Encryption activation fixed part initiated
To prevent eavesdropping the information on the air interface between fixed part and portable part is
encrypted using the DECT standard cipher algorithm.
Subscription registration procedure on-air
A standardised procedure for loading subscription registration data into a portable part in real time
over the air-interface.
Subscription registration is an infrequent process whereby a subscriber (the person who has
subscribed to telecommunication services and is therefore responsible for payment) obtains access
rights to one or more fixed parts.
During the subscription process the portable part is loaded with certain parameters e.g. telephone
(extension) number, access rights to one or more cordless systems, authentication codes.
Link control
The ability to request, accept, maintain and release a data link for the purposes of a NWK layer
procedure.
Terminate access rights fixed part initiated
The ability of the fixed part to delete a subscription in the portable part.
Partial release
The ability to release an established or in progress call whilst retaining the radio resource for the
purpose of accessing further services.
Go to DTMF (infinitive tone length)
The capability of the portable part to send the appropriate code instructing the fixed part or local
exchange to go to DTMF signalling with infinitive tone length.
Go to pulse
The capability of the portable part to send the appropriate code instructing the fixed part or local
exchange to go to pulse (decadic) signalling.
Signalling of display characters
The transmission to the portable part of characters to be displayed on the users portable part display
(if provided).
Display control characters
Characters sent to the portable part to control the user’s display in the portable part (if provided). Such
characters include cursor control, clear screen, home, flash, inverse video etc.
Authentication of fixed part
The process by which the identity of a fixed part is checked by the portable part. For both the operator
of a fixed part and the user of a portable part it is important that they are protected from threats like
fraudulent use of network, incorrect charging, illegal use of portable part, etc. The purpose of this
service is to avoid unauthorized loading of information into a portable part which may render it
unusable.
