4.9 Digital Trunk Unit – DTU
To use the DTU with CAS+ firmware in a GAP system, it can be connected to an MD110, Meridian 1
or Succession 1000M.
The digital trunk unit provides the digital interface between the PBX and the radio exchange. The
physical connection with the PBX is established via two coaxial or twisted pair cables.
Every DTU board contains 2 Digital Trunk Circuits (DTC, see figure 10), each equipped with identical
firmware. Both DTCs support the Channel Associated Signalling (CAS) interface.
The CAS interface provides 30 fixed communication channels to which 30 cordless phones are
assigned. In this case a DTU board can handle 60 cordless phones.
LTU and DTU boards with CAS interfaces can be operational at the same time in a DCT1800-GAP
system.
CCS firmware (S2-protocol) can be connected to Ascotel I5 and higher with AMI software, or EADS
6500 PBXs.

4.10 Modular Cabinet Connection Board – MCCB
The modular cabinet connection board provides connectors for a personal computer, a printer, 3 DTU
boards, R-button earth connection for 7 LTU boards, base station powering via 7 CLU/CLU-S boards or
SLU boards and a general alarm (via relays). The MCCB is located at the bottom of the modular cabinet.
