4.8 Line Termination Unit – LTU
The line termination unit provides the analogue interface between the PBX and the radio exchange.
Every LTU board contains 8 Line Termination Circuits (LTC, see figure
9). An LTC interfaces to the
PBX through a two-wire analogue subscriber line. Every analogue line is dedicated to a specific
cordless phone (telephone number). The LTC terminates the line to the PBX like an ordinary wired
analogue telephone.
The main tasks of the LTU board are:
To establish physical connection between the PBX and radio exchange
On/off hook detection
Ring signal detection
R-button function handling
Pulse dialling (tone dialling is generated in the SPU-S and SPU part of the SLU)
Analogue to digital speech processing (PCM) and vice versa
