4.5 Cell Link Unit-S – CLU-S
The functionality of the CLU-S board is essentially the same as the CLU board (see paragraph 4.4),
with the exception that it can only be used for ‘short’ distance interfacing (up to 1.9 km). As from board
revision R1A it also incorporates Automatic Delay Measurement (ADM).
4.6 Speech Link Unit – SLU
The speech link unit is a combination of an SPU-S and a CLU-S on one board. It contains 8 Speech
Processing Circuits (SPCs) and 8 Cell Link Circuits (CLCs) (see figure
7).
The SLU can be used to control base stations via twisted pair cables of up to 1.9 km. For longer
distances (up to 3.5 km - only applicable for KRCNB 201 base stations and 301, 302 and 303 base
stations of revision R1n or R2n) a CLU with article no. REX-BRD0014 (product code ROFNB 157 11)
must be used.
As of revision R2A the SLU is provided with Automatic Delay Measurement (ADM).
See paragraphs 4.3, 4.4 and 4.5 for the description of the SPU-S, CLU and CLU-S.

4.7 Overview of CLU, SLU, SLU-S, CLU-S boards
Figure 8 shows that the SPU-S and the CLU-S boards are derived from the SLU board. The SPU-S
board is a SLU board where the CLU-S function has not been implemented and the CLU-S board is
a SLU board where the SPU-S function has not been implemented.
