3.4.2 Upgrade procedure
During the execution of the upgrade procedure the DCT1800-GAP system is not operational. To limit
the inconvenience execute the upgrade procedure when the system is not being used.
Follow the main steps of the procedure in the given order.
1. Make a back-up with the command ’System manager - Download/upload - Upload’.
Note:
If after the upgrading your system does not work properly because of mismatch between system
software, you can downgrade to previous situation. After downgrading you can quickly re-initialise the
system by using the function key <F8> (Download EEPROM.SAV) in CSM for DOS.
2. Switch off the DCT1800 system.
3. Create an ESD safe working place as described in the chapter 5 ‘Protection against Electronic
Discharge (ESD)’ of the ‘Safety and regulatory information’ section in this book
4. If DTU board 2/ROFNB 157 03 is present in the system place the two new PROMs RYT/ROFNB
157 03/5.
5. If DTU-E1 board 2/ROFNB 157 13/n is present in the system place the two new PROMs RYSNB
101 17/10.
6. On CPU board 2/ROFNB 157 19/5 place the new CPU firmware PROM RYT/ROFNB 157 19/3.
7. Switch on the system.
8. Install the new CSM DCT1800-GAP (LZYNB 201 05/n) and CSS DCT1800-GAP (LZYNB 201
06/n).
9. Start CSM. The following warning is displayed: ’LTU/QSLAC parameters not initialised yet.
<Enter>’. Only if LTU ROFNB 157 25/n has not been installed you could ignore the warning.
However it is recommended to execute the command to prepare the system in case you insert
the LTU ROFNB 157 25/n in the future.
10. Execute the command ’Restore country data’ (Distributor - System - Parameters - Restore country
data).
