1.2 Upgrade procedure
Note:
During the upgrade failure alarms will be generated. Ignore these alarms until the upgrade has been
completed.
Follow the procedure in the order given.
1. Notify the users that their personal phone book will be lost and collect all cordless phones. Stick
a label, with the phone number and the user’s name, on the cordless phone if you want to give
the same phone back.
2. Select the menu Distributor - Base station - List in the cordless system manager and print or
write down the delay values of all base stations.
3. Select the menu System manager - Administrate - List - Extension number in the cordless system
manager and print the extension numbers or write down the extension ranges.
4. Quit the cordless system manager and rename its directory to for instance ‘DCT.OLD’ or delete
its directory.
5. Switch off the DCT1800 system.
6. Create an ESD safe working place as described in the chapter 5 ‘Protection against Electronic
Discharge (ESD)’ of the ‘Safety and regulatory information’ section in this book.
7. Disconnect the cables from the CPU board and remove the CPU board.
8. Install CPU board 2/ROFNB 157 19/5 with firmware RYT/ROFNB 157 19/3 as described in chapter
7 of the ‘Installation instructions’ section in this book.
9. Connect the cables to the new CPU board as described in chapter 18 ‘CPU cabling’ of the
‘Installation instructions’ section in this book.
10. Replace SPU boards ROFNB 157 08/n by SPU-S boards ROFNB 157 16/3.
11. On the SPU boards (ROFNB 157 16/3) remove the SPU board controller PROM (RYSNB 101
20) and place the new revision PROM RYSNB 101 20 (revision R2A or higher).
12. Remove the cables from the SLU boards (ROFNB 157 16/1) and remove the SLU boards.
13. On the SLU boards (ROFNB 157 16/1) remove the SPU board controller PROM (RYSNB 101
20) and place the new revision PROM RYSNB 101 20 (revision R2A or higher).
