Chapter 1 Upgrade from DCT1800-A to DCT1800-GAP R1B –
January 1999
1.1 Introduction
This chapter describes how systems with the A-protocol can be updated to the GAP-protocol. Systems
with the B-protocol (mobility) cannot be updated.
When updating a DCT1800-A system to a DCT1800-GAP R1B system all except the following system
components can be reused:
Central cabinet BFLNB 101 05/n and related products such as cables and power supply.
Cordless phone DPANB 201 0x/3
CPU board 2/ROFNB 157 06
CPU firmware RYT/ROFNB 157 06/2
SPU board ROFNB 157 08/n
DTU-E1 CAS firmware set NTM/RYSNB 101 17/1
DTU CAS firmware RYT/ROFNB 157 03/2
Cordless system manager software LZYNB 201 01
Cordless system statistics software LZYNB 201 02
The CPU board has to be replaced by a new one. Cordless phones of the type DPANB 201 0x/3 are
to be replaced by GAP cordless phones. All other cordless phones and base stations can be updated
by downloading new software.
Table 1 shows the firmware that must be updated to indicated minimum revisions. Cordless system
manager LZYNB 201 05/n and cordless system statistics LZYNB 201 06/n must be updated to revision
R2B.
Systems using a CCS interface cannot be updated. The DCT1800-GAP system only supports LTU,
CAS and CAS+ interfaces.
Table 2 gives an overview of all items required for upgrading. To upgrade a system, it has to be taken
out of service.
